Rudy's Steakhouse

Well, this is a hard reset on what 5 stars means. Rudy's is elegant the way a restaurant was Elegant when your grandfather was courting your grandmother. The food is superb. The steaks are tender and so flavorful. The seafood is fresh and perfectly prepared, the bar serves a martini the way Bogart might in Casablanca. And speaking of the movie scene qualities of the finest restaurant in Oregon's capitol, if you get a server who looks like Ingrid Bergman, her name is December and she is the best. Tip her well because she's a school teacher by day and the finest server in the land by night.

Excellent food, and worth every penny. We came to Rudy's with our friends for a great meal, and we were not disappointed. My husband and I had the New York Strip and my friend had the Asian Chicken Salad. Everything was cooked to order and delicious. The one and only thing I was ever so slightly disappointed in was that they were out of chocolate cake and their peppermint ice cream, which just means they had to have been delicious also! We will definitely be returning again.

We ordered two thanksgiving dinners to go, one was prime rib, the other was turkey. We also got half a pumpkin pie for dessert. It was definitely not cheap, but it was extremely delicious and very filling! The prime rib was cooked perfectly, the mashed potatoes were creamy, and the stuffing had a great texture and flavor! The turkey was surprisingly tender (usually, I find turkey to be quite dry and bland, but this was just the right amount of juiciness, even when I had it the day after thanksgiving). The pumpkin pie was good, but the description said it would come with whipped cream, but sadly we did not get any in our order.

This place just never seems to let me down. Although I've only been to Rudy's a handful of times, the food and customer service have been great every time. Prompt service from start to end, and far from comparable steaks. One of the few places I truly enjoy dining at in which can really cook and high quality steak just how you like it. If you want rare you'll get exactly that. Or like me and get medium rare, you'll get just that. I got the 1 month dry aged ribeye, cooked medium rare and it was without question one of the absolute best steaks I've ever experienced. Without question, it's worth every penny. Rudy's is now easily one of my favorite places to eat. I'll definitely be going back.
