Taproot Lounge & Cafe

Nice hipster ambiance, friendly staff and delicious food. Prices are about right. Only one thing we noticed they served beer, as we saw other people being served, but the beer menu was never showed to us from the beginning, maybe the server forgot. Nevertheless great food and healthy! We got two bowls and they were filling.

A friend had recommended Taproot Lounge and Cafe and told me it was a great place to eat. Unfortunately, I'm extremely disappointed. I ordered 'The OG Burger' with chicken and it has to be the driest and most bland burger I've had in a long time. I put ranch on it but it still didn't help because the chicken was so dry. Their side portions are incredibly small. I ordered a Parallel 45 cocktail and it was very sweet, tastes like liqueur and is not what I expected. I initially thought of ordering a poutine (especially given my Canadian roots) and wish I had. I'm not sure if I'll return given my experience. Not recommended.

I went for a late lunch with a friend and enjoyed both the atmosphere and the food. I was very happy with the size and taste of my burger and the fries. I wouldn't normally mention the size of my food but I was looking at other reviews and noticed somebody mentioned their side of fries being small. Looking at their picture I'm not sure I would call it small, but I can say that my side order of fries was a larger portion than what was depicted in the photos. The wait staff was also good and attentive. I would be happy to come back here again. I'd be particularly interested in seeing what the normal lunch or dinner hour feels like.

Place was really nice and the food looked really good and the drinks as well. But I was recommended the eggs Benedict from the waitress, and took my order and got me the coffee. 45 minutes later they said they never took my order and she didn't hear me say that. Like why are you going to recommended something and not follow through... but the weirdest thing I was there for 40 minutes and the food didn't come out if she didn't take my order why didn't she come back and check on me??? Ended up leaving and just paying for the coffee, ill be back later today to try the lunch just because the food looks really good. Hope their service is better. So I went back today March 3rd totally made me add to my review. So I got the eggs Benedict. It was so good normal I have to add hot sauce for flavor but not here it was so good. The best part was the fruit though you can tell that they don't just throw some fruit on the plate. They actually choose fresh fruits that are nice and sweet unlike those chain restaurants.

Very trendy, eclectic little eatery and lounge. Nice variety of teas and interesting and deliciously exciting food choices for the more adventurous palate. Staff was friendly and professional, restaurant was clean. They had a very small stage next to the entrance, though I'm unsure whether they have live entertainment as there was none the night we went. The lounge area in the back with leather couches and built in book shelves and old books had an entirely different vibe, but somehow it all meshed as well. Definitely check this place out if you're in or stopping through Salem and you'd like to try a unique atmosphere with equally unique food.
