Alamo Fish & Chips

My mom and I have been on a mission since our trip to England last May (she's originally from there) to find the most authentic fish and chips in SA, and My. Lord. This place is it. Besides the batter and fries being the closest we've tried, the owners are incredibly nice. The only thing missing was my British nana and a cup of tea! Update: We just brought my nana here on her holiday from Liverpool, England and she's extremely selective with her compliments. Not only did she tell us that the fish and chips was the best meal she's had the entire time she's been here, but she thanked the owner and said she wished we had brought her earlier in her trip. Definitely a seal of approval from a fish and chips expert.

I absolutely love this place!! They have the best fish and chips!! This is the type of neighborhood restaurant that use to exist all over the place when I was a kid, they are sadly disappearing. The type of place where the food is great, affordable and after your second visit they greet you like you have been a life long regular.

Place only has a few tables but it makes up for it in such freshly cooked food and great prices. Order at the counter. Had the fried shrimp and oysters platter. Was great and freshly fried. Byob if you want alcohol. The owner came out and made sure we were satisfied with everything. That was a surprise!

Nice little place. First visit (which means I'll be back). Good fish, shrimp and fries. The white fish and shrimp were very good. I usually like fried catfish, but the filet was a little small and a little tough. For those who commented about grease, the food is fried in grease. It should not be a surprise if there is some in the basket.

I wandered into this restaurant while trying to kill time yesterday. From the outside I thought it was going to be bigger when I walked in, so I was a little taken aback. There were a lot of options so it took a while to figure out what to get but the owner was VERY friendly and suggested many of their most popular choices. I cannot remember when I have had or seen service like what he provided. He was so nice and genuine and made me leave feeling like I couldn't wait to come back. I got an order of wings to go and they were huge! And so good! I'm really looking forward to returning to try the rest of their menu and it is mostly because of the great management there!

Visited Alamo Fish & Chips for the first time last night and I am IMPRESSED! Frankie greeted us at the door and then came to oir table to ask if this was our first visit. He explained the process went over the specials and just made us feel at home. The food was great and for the price the portions were awesome!!! Had to get boxes to go. As a New Englander I have found my new favorite spot for Fish & Chips. Keep up the great work Frankie!!!
