Fat Tummy Empanadas

Food was absolutely delicious! The beef and cheese was my favorite! The chimichurri sauce is the perfect pairing. I also tried a pumpkin empanada but I felt it wasn’t sweet enough. Tasted like pumpkin straight from a can. Obviously the empanadas are baked fresh but I felt as though there was a lot of smoke in the air and my eyes were so watery the entire time I was eating. Next time I will take my empanadas to-go and won’t eat inside.

Visited today for the first time. Very friendly employee (son of the owners I think) recommended the chicken spinach and cheese. It was delicious. My son enjoyed the beef and potato. Husband had spicy beef (it really is spicy). We also tried pepperoni and cheese. They come with a chimichurri sauce. For dessert we had an apple, and a guava and cream cheese. We loved them all. One empanada was a good portion for lunch. The desserts are smaller (and less expensive) so make sure to get a couple of those. Lots of drink options. Order at the counter then sit. A few parking spots in front and more on the side street. Was featured on diners, drive-ins, and dives in 2018. Can't wait to go back.

The staff were friendly and attentive. All the viewed areas appeared clean & tidy. We arrived as the restaurant opened in the morning, making the inviting atmosphere on the quieter side. During our visit, we had traditional beef and beef & potato savory empanadas served with their handmade spicy chimichurri; guava & cream cheese, and pineapple desert empanadas. All of which were deliciously amazing! Before leaving, we ordered an additional dozen savory empanadas to-go, as well as a jar of the spicy chimichurri. I am planning a return trip to enjoy more of their menu when I am back in the San Antonio area!

This place is so wonderful, I had a great experience. I ordered four empanadas to try a variety of fillings and I loved them all! I will be back to try more! I love that you can buy fresh-made empanadas to cook at home. The service was excellent, the prices were fair, and the food was so delicious. You definitely need to go here!
