Drop Zone Cafe

Just a little piece of history positioned just outside of Fort Sam. Great food here. Portions are quite generous. I can't quite finish the omelette plate. Great atmosphere. Military city proud thru-and-thru. Small but quaint. Very friendly staff. Just posted (24 May) picture of the pork chop lunch special. New photo of the pork chop plate. the pork chops are HUGE!!

I think this is my 3rd or 4th review. It takes a special place to get one. This place is Amazing. Fresh tortillas, Carne Guisada ranks among best I have ever had (I grew up around San antonio) Tacos are huge (used the spoon to give you an idea of size), 2 is almost too much. Somehow, I have never been here till today. I will now make this my go-to when in the area. Little bit of difficulty getting in and out of parking lot, but more than worth it. Staff was friendly, only negative was they didn't have Barbados today, guess I will have to come back.

Didn't realize Fort Sam Houston was down the street which now makes sense why this place is called the Drop Zone. Stopped here for lunch. Love that you can still order breakfast tacos after 11:00am. Just pay an extra .50 cents. Had the daily special, chicken enchiladas. They were tender with mole sauce on top. Husband had chicken fajitas. Sweet tea wasn't too sweet. All was good. Didn't take pics of the food because we were hungry. This place is decorated with pics of soldiers. We would come back here.

I've seen this place and passed by 100 times over if not 1000. Finally stopped in and tried it out. Military City USA!! What a great restaurant. Memorabilia adorns this place and pays tribute to all the Warriors that paved the way for us. The food portions are great, freshly cooked to order. I order corn tortillas and these corn tortillas came out hot, fresh, and soft. They didn't get hard or cold as I ate my meal. Ms. Alejandra attended to me and she was super amicable and friendly. The owner was working the front register and also is most accommodating. I chose the chilaquiles verdes at her suggestion and they didn't disappoint. The coffee was hot and strong. Parking is a bear if you come at peak hours like I did. This place warrants a return visit, especially for the daily breakfast and lunch Specials that are reasonably priced. Come out and give it a try.
