Luby's

Today we were at Luby's  with  a friend whose Aunt  Val was celebrating her 100th Birthday.  It was a good choice.  Luby's is the place to come for this special occasion.  Cafeteria style, you  each diner selects what they like to eat  from a wide variety  of entrees and sides,  tempting dessets, & adequate   seating in dining room to accomodate  your group.   Over the years, we've eaten at this Luby's location many times because it is nearest to our home. Our friend picked up the tab for the six of us.   From the serving line I selected a mixed  fruit bowl. Covered cheese steak,  German cooked potatoes, pinto beans,   & garlic bread.   Nothing really stood out but it was substantial and  good.  While we enjoyed our meals & socialized, Kendrick, one of the wait staff, stood nearby to fill all of our extra requests.

I have given this Luby's location several chances. I have received refunds on my food twice. I should have asked for one today as well but I am tired of fussing with it and will just not eat here any more. The mashed potatoes were hard with uncooked pieces. The broccoli was very salty. Wish this location would improve.

I hadn’t been to a Luby’s in years and this experience made me regret not going more often. I used to go to Luby’s all the time as a kid and as I got older I kind of drifted away from it. Last Sunday I saw it as I was out and about and decided to stop for lunch. The service was exceptional, the food was delicious, and everything in the restaurant was very clean. There were two things that made me give a 4 star instead of 5: first, the cornbread was AWFUL. No flavor and was extremely dry. It honestly tasted like a big cornbread crouton that was a week old. Also, the prices for a regular plate are somewhat reasonable but extras are very expense. $5 for a slice of cake, $2 for a cookie, basically have to add 50% of your meal price if you want to get an additional side. So stick to the traditional one entree and 2 sides and you’ll be good. Overall a great experience and I fully plan on coming back!

We have been coming to this location for years always good always attentive ...! but not on this recent trip half of the food was missing and the food that was there look old and dried out. I asked for the fried chicken white piece The young man that was helping me was going to check in the back when one of the ladies there abruptly told him they where out and it would take 30 minutes to cook I believe she was a manager . I really don’t believe that I’ve been in the industry before. and I understand they don’t want to cook more chicken ..everything else looked old like the one steak that was there it was medium well done as the lady also remarked so I couldn’t try to order the steak want it medium rare the one on the plate was medium well I was going to take 8minutes So I decided to go with the baked chicken and yeah that was no dark meat available locked dried out the spaghetti was dried out and also the only two good things was Paula and the young gentleman that took my order was very polite when he was trying to get my food manager said was they look like they were having a conversation on their break in the middle of the line and look like to be bothered when he was asking questions and they were quick with the answers without no concern of trying to make it better just know we don’t have it you gonna have to wait type attitude hopefully this gets taken care of on your end because it’s unfortunate we’ve always come to this location.! I gave them two stars because the food was adequate but not up to the par that were used to at this location. I wasn’t going to post this but I decided it be better for the person that owns or runs this location is aware of what happened.

Last time we were at luby s they had discontinued salads and some others items but they have since added them back. Now they are prepackaged so they are not dishing them up. This really seems better. They have changed things so people can not reach in and grab things which is the way it always should have been. They also increased staff so it is much more efficient. The quality of the food was good and plentiful. Staff was friendly and helpful. I feel comfortable recommending it now and am glad we have it a second try.
