Bronx Pizza

Bronx pizza is a tradition for my daughter and I, and now her fiance has joined us in this. This is what a pizza place should be; great pizza, decent prices, great service. We were heartbroken to learn of Smitty's passing. He was a great guy and the banter between him and my daughter was easy and entertaining. He went out of his way to be kind, despite the gruff exterior, and made us feel like family. He will be so missed. Back to the pizza: don't sleep on the ricotta! It makes every pie better. I would have just a cheese pizza with ricotta if not for my daughter's love of pepperoni, it's that good. I wish they wouldn't have gotten rid of the beverage fountain, but that isn't going to deter us. If you want a really delicious pizza at a really reasonable price, this is your place. Easily better than the overpriced, half as delicious choices elsewhere!

One bite, everyone knows the rules. Pizza was spectacular. Ordered a slice that was already made and waiting and a fresh pie for the family. My Fresh pie was crispy and the sauce/cheese was great, the one sitting around for a bit and reheated was not as good, still worth the money. The location is rough, not much parking and it's cash only which is inconvenient. Overall score by pizza alone: 8.1

The most traditional New York pieces you are going to find. This place is amazing! Friendly staff everybody gets along. The pizza is amazing! Everything is fresh and made in house. You can absolutely tell by how fresh the ingredients are. This is a lively hotspot and is strongly recommended to anybody in the San Diego area if you want pizza.

Love this place!! Been coming here for about 25 years when I first heard about it! Best pizza in San Diego. I was very sad to hear that Seth, who was pretty much a permanent fixture there, passed away. I will miss his smile and his kindness. I think you should put some kind of tribute to him somewhere in the restaurant. I would still like to see his smiling face when I come in there. He will be truly missed. Angela

Edit 09/16/2023 (10 months after the original review below) - Had a few more slices here the other day, and the pizza is still amazing. They are definitely consistent as far as quality. Service is also amazing and very friendly. So, today I tried Pizzeria Luigi in South Park which is supposed to be Bronx’s competitor when it comes to a good NY slice. I’ll leave a more thorough review on their page about my experience, but I just wanna say for anyone looking up reviews for both places because they don’t know where to go, go to Bronx. It’s significantly better. ORIGINAL - As someone born and raised in Jersey, my biggest fear with relocating to SD was that I wouldn’t have good pizza at my disposal. Thank you, Bronx Pizza, I can now move here and have a little taste of home away from home. The pizza was SO good. I ordered one slice of pepperoni (asked for it crispy). It was delicious!!! Cheese to sauce ratio was on point. Crust was really good as well. A few bites into my slice, I went back and ordered two more! Highly recommend this place. My only complaint is they aren’t on DoorDash and only take cash. (There is an ATM there in case you don’t come prepared.)

This place is buzzing! It's quite busy so there's a bit of a wait but the atmosphere made it not a problem at all. The people working and the other customers were all very friendly and I had a super fun time! Also, the food is amazing! And very well priced. Just be aware that they are CASH ONLY. They have an ATM inside the building but I'd bring cash with you so you don't have to hassle with it.
