Chon Ju Jip

Food is AMAZING. Definitely authentic Korean taste. The atmosphere is a lot like the Korean vibe you see in movies and online - very casual and a lot of ambient noise. This is easily my sister and my new favorite Korean place. Highly recommend the dolsot bibimpap and "ox" bone soup (galbitang). Just a head's up but the parking lot is a little sketchy at times. 😂

It's been a year since I was here and I'm finally getting to review. GO SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS!! This has the home cook taste for Korean food and the items that would take forever to make at home. I love the raw marinated crab. Must eat it with lots of rice! BBoosaam (boiled pork) was good with the raw oysters!! It was yummy in my mouth. The gamja tang (potato stew ish with beef) was GREAT! Exactly that home taste for soup! There were three of us and we ate it ALL!!

This is my favorite Korean restaurant in SD. I love the familial atmosphere they have and I love how down to earth the vibe is. I’ve been here two other times and I came here today solo to have some galbitang bc I need a good pick me up/solo date. I haven’t had any bad food here, like legit. From there sundubu, yangyeom gejang (it’s hella spicy), kongguksu, and to their galbitang — it’s all damn delicious! I cannot recommend this place enough. I love love love that they serve barley tea along with the food, it rounds it out. Parking does get pretty rough depending when you come and what day so just be prepared to maybe park elsewhere. It’s going to be a hot day in SD today but I’m still having my galbitang; do I want rice even though there’ll be noodles???

My husband and I recently visited Chon Ju Jip and we must say, we were thoroughly impressed with the food and service. The restaurant has a warm and inviting atmosphere, with traditional Korean decor and friendly staff. We ordered the Bulgogi combo and it was simply delicious - the flavors were perfectly balanced and the portion size was generous. The banchan (side dishes) that came with the meal were also fantastic, especially the kimchi which had just the right amount of spice. We also loved and recommend the Bibim Guksu (spicy mixed noodles with cucumbers) and Ohjinheoh-Bokkeum (stir fried squid). The service was prompt and attentive, and the staff were happy to answer any questions I had about the menu. Overall, we had a great experience at Chon Ju Jip and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Korean cuisine in San Diego and can’t wait to eat here again soon!
