Upper East Bar

Cool place to grab a drink or dinner, inside the Solamar Hotel in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter. The bar actually just opened up after a long closure due to COVID and related issues. Great timing for us as the food was fantastic! The hummus plate was very good, and the guacamole appetizer was delicious. My wife loved her street tacos as well. And the margarita was tasty...all discounted during Happy Hour too!

This place has seen much better days. Went there this past weekend with my wife and couldn't touch any flat surfaces they were so filthy and wet. Looked like the cleaning staff took the weekend off. Even the bar was so sticky with goo I dared not touch it with my arm sleeve. Apparently the bartenders didn't notice what was right in front of them. My wife went to the ladies' room, and when she came back she said it was worse than the restroom in a public park. No TP. Had to use a toilet liner. This used to be a cool place (pre-Covid) but we will not return until it's under new management.

Good place maybe if you stay at the hotel and your at the pool. Drinks were marginal at best and expensive as we just missed happy hour. Neither of our drinks tasted great and neither seemed well made making the $15 price tag more difficult to swallow than the drinks themselves. We will never return. The Nolen is way better and cheaper

Very impressed with this hidden gem! The Grand Cabana was perfect for my birthday 🎉 Kristin was over the top helpful with the reservation start to finish and the hotel was extremely helpful accommodating my friend on crutches. The entire rooftop is gorgeous and it felt like the whole staff was at our service. Food was fantastic and everyone had a great time. Will be back!!! Navy Veteran Approved 🇺🇸

Went there early for the Sweden/England game. Busy. Good thing. Staff was friendly and very attentive even with it being so busy. Very cool and relaxing feel. Got coffee and $5 Tullamore Dews. And the Atlantic Jag for breakfast. Subbed the hash browns for tater tots. Under $9 breakfast in SD. Good deal. It was plenty. Couldn't eat it all. Def recommend going to watch a game or just stopping in for a food/drinks. Wasn't able to be there for taco Tuesday but they have a great deal. They're also the oldest tavern in SD.
