The place makes me feel like I’m back home in Shanghai and maybe better 🥹
As someone who used to live near Guyi Garden in Shanghai, I can say the soup dumplings are exactly how I like them. The dough isn’t too skin or too soft and has a delightful little chewiness. The pork and crab filling is tender, juicy, and not greasy. There can be a bit more crab yolk but i didn’t expect much across the ocean.
I adore the small yellow fish in rice wine sauce. It has become a rare find even in Shanghai comparing with the more common smoked fish. The balance of rice wine and sweet flavor is just right.
Pea shoots are perfectly cooked.
Pork belly with tofu skin knots tastes good too. Not too salty.
Love the atmosphere. So glad to hear Shanghainese!! The aunties are very friendly and welcoming. The food isn’t cheap but it definitely worth it.
Hope I have time to visit again for other dishes I crave before leaving for England…

I'll put the gem title on this one. Everything we had was very tasty. The large hot and sour soup prob serves 10 people so in our group of 3 as someone who loves hot and sour soup I was very pleased (it's good). Moo shu pork dish was very tasty. Service was very good and very friendly. Highly recommend.

Crispy fish is a nostalgic dish for me so when I entered Chinatown, my mission was to find authentic Chinese cuisine that included pine nut croaker. Bund Shanghai is so authentic with a wide variety of traditional menu items. The pine nut croaker nailed the flavors I was longing for. Along with that, we had the Xiao Long Bao which came so hot and steamy, with the perfect dipping pairing. We did enjoy it with extra chili paste. You have to try the braised pork belly with tofu skin knots. Such a tasty and fun play with flavors and textures. Plenty of sauce as well. We also had the Zha Jiang noodles which I enjoyed but prefer it to be spicier. I have to commend the customer service, our waitress was so welcoming and playful, making us feel like we were having a home cooked meal by our auntie. She was so sweet and made our dinner experience one to remember. Can’t wait to come back soon!

Excellent service and food. This place lived up to exactly what I was hoping for in China Town. Great flavors and good prices. Hot and sour soup, soup dumplings, pot stickers, General Tso's chicken and Mongolian Beef. All excellent!

Very nice and genuine place for Chinese food in Chinatown. The Bok choy was pretty flavourless, though. Kung pau chicken deliciously spiced!

A no-frills Chinese eatery in the heart of Chinatown SF. I came here for a Sunday lunch. The atmosphere of the restaurant was calm and relaxing. The menu was relatively easy to follow for a non-chinese person. The staff was not very interactive but they were polite. I ordered three different Dim Sum options and loved it. This is definitely a place I would consider visiting multiple times.

Ed, son of owners, was head waiter and he’s delightful! I’m an old white guy, never had eel but when I asked Ed assured me they’re excellent: “people fly here from NYC to get our eels!”. He said they’re cooked w garlic in oil so I was in. Excellent! And the green beans: to perfection! The chef brings dishes out and he loved the praise we gave him. Gets crowded after 7:30 (12/29/22). Don’t miss Bund!! See pics: taken after we ate more than half of each!

Absolutely delicious and authentic Shanghainese food, my favorite so far in SF. I want to try more dishes and this will be my spot to take friends for legit Chinese food in the city. Get the stir fried tomatoes and scrambled eggs! Tastes like Shanghai :)

Hands down the best Shanghai cuisine you can have in the US.
The Shanghai eel is a quintessential Shanghai cuisine and you have to have it done within a min with high temp oil to keep the tenderness and juice of eel slice. They nailed it. Absolute goosebump when I had first taste.
The tofu noodle soup is a quintessential cuisine in Yangzhou, Jiangsu. Again they nailed it with perfected cut tofu slice, with great umami taste in their soup base. Tofu noodles are at the perfect balance of tender and chewy.
5/5. No doubt.
