Palette Tea House

I nice spot if in ghirardelli sq and looking for food option. Got the couples sets for two which was a good assortment. Decided the taro swans weren’t for us. Peking Duck fried rice was very good. Overall, a nice dinner spot but service was not so great. It was difficult to get tea refills, the dishes didn’t feel paced currently, and we had to search for someone to get our check and to-go boxes.

Very good food and friendly staff. Just have to ask them for everything. Had to flag them down to order, had to ask for water refills, had to ask for new plates for dessert, etc. Food was very good and authentic. Ordered dimsum, Beijing duck and all foods were amazing. Very cute palette plates and interior. They have a covered outdoor patio area where I was able to bring my dog.

An unexpected gem in a very touristy spot. Came here for a date night and the spot did not disappoint. They close early (8 on a Friday!!!!) which is my only complaint. We arrived late to our dinner reservation but they were gracious and seated us at the bar. The drinks were not strong but were original. The Dim Sum was artful and fresh. The duck spring rolls were fragrant, the crab dumplings and abalone sui mai were fresh and delicate. The fried tofu was perfectly crispy on the outside and pillowy on the inside. I also have to say that the accompanying chili sauce was unexpectedly remarkable and tasty. The only thing I did not care for is the lychee custard shrimp dumpling. The mix of sweet and umami did not work for me. Our server, a young musician transplant into SF by the name of Alex was just delightful. SF still is the land of relentless optimism even after being hit so hard during the pandemic.

For being in a touristy area, I was very impressed with the quality and presentation of the food. My friend and I had an early Sunday dinner reservation. We split the soup dumpling sampler, chicken and mushroom siu mai, sweet and sour chicken, and wagyu beef chow fun. My favorites were both the siu mai and the wagyu chow fun. I also really enjoyed the black truffle soup dumpling and wish they were able to sell that outside of the sampler. We left with leftovers so we could have gotten away with ordering 3 dishes if we hadn't been interested in trying more dishes

I dined at a this cosy restaurant and tried their vegetarian Mapo tofu, and it was fantastic! The flavors were rich Szechuan style and the tofu was perfectly cooked. I also ordered steamed rice, which complemented the dish well. To complete the meal, I had a refreshing cup of iron goddess tea. Overall, the experience was delightful, and I would highly recommend this restaurant for their delicious vegetarian options and cozy ambiance.

9/10 One of the best for the most aesthetic dim sum in the Bay Area. Yes it’s pricey, and more of a treat for special occasions. 7/10 When it’s really packed at night the service can be a miss. They forget to refill your drinks or check up on you. 10/10 Ambiance and food aesthetic are what you’re here for honestly. More food stuff @vin.foodjournal

Very cool and creative restaurant! It's not a traditional Cantonese dim sum place, but is a more modern styled Cantonese restaurant! I would recommend if you are looking for something different and new. The black truffle fried rice is delicious and special. Some dishes are okay just in my opinion. So it really depends on what you order. service is fine, price is okay. Overall, it is a cool place to eat:)
