Pompei's Grotto

Walking by on a hot September afternoon and saw a sign advertising Happy Hour with decent pricing and what looked to be a good selection of Appies, not to mention that the outdoor patio was very enticing. Drinks were $5 and snacks $5-$7. We were surprised at how wonderful the service was friendly, attentive and efficient. The water glasses were never empty. Ordered wine, bruschetta and fish tacos. It was such delicious food and a pleasant atmosphere that we had more wine and then tried the mussels. Great value for the price paid. All the other meals around us looked equally delicious. Keep up the good work, will definitely return on our next visit to this gorgeous city!

The perfect place to have lunch if you’re craving clam chowder and fish and chips. Service was fast, price was reasonable and the food hit the spot. The restaurant is located on the main street of the wharf where people walk. We quite enjoyed the food here and they had drinks and clam chowder specials for $5.

In and get seated immediately I wish this was a better experience. Only reason that it got a 2 star was the clam chowder was great! After eating the clam chowder my expectations wre high. The steak while cooked perfectly in temperature lacked any flavor. The crab drowned in so much butter that is all I could taste. My wife got the mushroom risotto with large prawns, which was crunchy and bland. The large prawns were in reality medium shrimp. Service was spotty. If you do decide to eat here I fully recommend the clam chowder.

From a long time I was planning to visit a fine dining seafood restaurant. We went over the menu of 3-4 near by restaurants and selected this one. We ordered chefs special (bass) and Crab melt sandwich. Bass was good the presentation was simple and sweet. By just looking a the dish you'll feel that the taste will be bland but once I tried it was perfect, also the broccolis was awesome(recommend item). Crab melt sandwich was below expectation, bread had a lot of extra butter/oil and the quantity of crab inside was too less, so paying $22 for such quantity was a lot. At the start they also give you breads and butter, the bread slice edge's was was too hard and difficult to eat. Probably I may not come back here, will try the neighbouring seafood restaurants.

Went for dinner tonight. My wife had the mushroom risotto, I had a chicken cobb salad and we each had a glass of Chianti. My wife sent the risotto back to the kitchen as there was little mushroom and no real flavour. My salad was OK, but nothing special and the bacon and egg in the description were absent. The best part about the meal was the Chianti and the sourdough bread provided as an appetiser. The waiter removed the cost of the risotto, but still a somewhat disappointing meal so could not rate higher.
