The Little Chihuahua

The vegan fried plantain and black bean burrito has been my favorite burrito for 6+ years! I love it with all of my heart. I don't live in the bay anymore but whenever im in town I pop in to devour my old love, and it seems that things are getting stingier each time. First it was the chips charge (rip free chips!) And most recently it was the avocado/guac charge on the vegan version of my sweet burrito! Now it's no longer the perfect vegan burrito right out of the box, you have to pay extra to swap the cheese + SC for avocado. IDK why this broke my heart so much, but it really did. I still love u and understand the need to cut costs/increase charges to keep up with the hood. Miss u love u. Ok enjoy!!!!

I absolutely loved the tostada salad with Chile verde tofu, which was super filling, scrumptious, and tasty. They have a salsa bar that is all-you-can-eat, and they also serve you chips with your meal. The service is great, and it’s fast. Plus, because everyone was next door at Stonemill Matcha, no one was in this restaurant and there was plenty of seating and a calm atmosphere. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.

This place has one of the best shrimp burritos anywhere. They also have other Mexican items on the menu and a good list of drinks but for me the shrimp burrito is the best. The service is very nice here and they have multiple locations in San Francisco. The food is also decently priced although a little more expensive than a Taqueria, but it comes out in the audience and quality of the food.

Give the burritos a break and try their red pozole! I'm usually disappointed with this dish at restaurants so I was hesitant to order but I'm so glad I did because it blew my mind. The super flavorful, rich, smokey pork stew is known to cure hangovers in Mexico so try it for brunch or dinner any day. Definitely recommended for any spicy, meaty soup lover or anyone who misses the taste of homemade pozole.

Little Chihuahua at a glance didn't look like a very authentic restaurant from the outside, but this is actually one of the better Taquerias I've eaten at in the Mission. The carne asada was extremely juicy and tender, and the tacos were proper "street" style (tortilla, meat, a little onion, salsa, shredded cabbage, cilantro). They have a nice selection of salsa as well. The only thing I didn't like was the price - tacos were around $5 each, but two should be enough for the average person. I would definitely come back.
