Their set lunch is amazing...so fresh especially the Takara box. For the price of $13.95, you get a full set of tempura, 3 good size of California roll, salad and a choice of chicken teriyaki, pork or salmon and it comes with a side of rice and soup. They closed for lunch at 2pm and reopens at 6pm. Great place to lunch and dine.

Ordered a 3-set meal including fried oyster, tonkatsu and shioyaki sakana. Was pleasantly surprised by the portion. While I cannot comment on the sushi, this restaurant is definitely in the reasonable price range for entries, and the quality is comparable to some that I’ve had in Japan. I didn’t have an issue at all with the waitresses, but for reference I was speaking Japanese to them for the entire duration.

We eat at Takara more than any other place in the Japan Center. They have good food at a reasonable price. I think that the lunch box - tempura, California roll, your choice of entree, salad, and miso soup - is the best deal on the menu. We did have a glitch in service the last time we went. A chirashi (from the sushi chef) wasn't served until 15+ minutes after everyone else in our party had been served from the kitchen (and several minutes after we inquired about it). That has been the exception over many visits, though, so we're considering it an isolated case.
