Delicious Japanese food in Russian Hill. Quality fresh fish shines bright in Okoze’s dishes. The Monk fish liver was real tasty and well prepared. If you know you know. The Hamachi kama was on point as well. It had a nice texture and was a good size. The seaweed salad was good and the shrimp tempura was a throw away dish. The meal wasn’t cheap but would I come back? Sure.

Just superb! Stop reading - go here. The sushi / sashimi was incredible, really high quality fish. We sat at the counter and the chefs engage as much (or as little) as you want. Atmosphere was also superb. It was busy but due to the acoustic dampening on the ceiling (nice touch guys!) it meant the sound volume wasn’t too much. Not noisy at all.

We had an Omakase (Niguiri) here and the fish was delicious and fresh! The special maki rolls we ordered were super good as well: Salamander Roll, Typhoon Roll.

Best sushi I’ve had in the city! A lot higher quality fish than other local favorites. Always a treat to have the speciality rolls and nigiri, highly recommend!!

I’ve dined here several times with friends and every experience has been excellent. The fish is top quality. We particularly love the salmon and tuna nigiri selections, the tsunami roll, spider roll, Hokkaido hotate, and dragon rolls. The staff is exceptional and always ensures we have a great meal. Definitely worth a stop!

Incredible takeout options at okoze!! Theyve been in business for 18 years and it SHOWS. I got the chirashi which is at the top of the photo - LOOK AT HOW FAT THOSE SLICES OF FISH ARE. For the first time, i actually found myself wanting more rice - there was so much FRESH FISH!! It also comes with seaweed salad which this one was really good i think they put sesame oil and add a bit of heat to it. The other dish we got was the kanpachi volcano, the jalapenos were a great touch. Go support local!!!

For sushi, this was spot on. Very fresh, well prepared and a fun meal. Unfortunately we were a party 10 and this was a bit much for the quaint capacity. More of a place for a couple or four people at most. Prices were average, especially for SF. Parking was a bit of a challenge but the ice cream shop on the corner was a great end to a good evening.
