Citizens Band

Came here 3 minutes before closing on a Friday night after having a few drinks at Bloodhound. This place is awesome for late night/drunk food. Fried chicken is legit. Burger looked pretty good. Smothered fries were delicious. According to my trustworthy source, the biscuits (that came with the fried chicken) was awesome.

I almost don't want to review this spot; it's my favorite secret brunch site in the city, rarely a wait and always great quality. The menu changes seasonally and uses really fresh ingredients. Favorites are the shrimp & grits and the burger. They also have my favorite eggs Benedict in town, with house made (and seasonally herbed) hollandaise and a revolving set of additions based on time of year - asparagus, heirloom tomato, prosciutto, etc. Can't wait to try their dinner.

I'm going to give this place 5 starts because the combination of the food and service is really good for the type of restaurant that this is. I am reviewing their brunch. I went there on a Sunday at 10:30AM (they open at 10AM) and there was no wait at all. I was waiting for a friend so I ordered a chamomile and chilled. When my friend arrived the waiter was super nice and gave us recommendations. I ordered egg benedict with cotechino on a biscuit and my friend ordered huevos rancheros. My eggs were really nice and the hollandaise was a green sauce that complemented well the other flavors on my dish. My friend liked her dish as well but I am not going to comment on that because I didn't try it :) Is it the best brunch I have ever had? Probably not but the laid back environment/service and the good food makes Citizen's a place that I am going to go back to at some point.

Just amazing. Comfort food prepared with a tremendous level of craft in humble digs. Ludicrously rich, mouthwatering portions will give you groans of ecstasy in addition to palpitations. The 12K burger with avocado is easily the best burger I have ever sunk my teeth into. Poutine, fried chicken and a mind blowing dessert menu make this place one of my favorite guilty pleasures in the city. Come with a group and try everything. You won't be disappointed.

Think hipster gourmet comfort food because that's basically what this place thrives on. Located on Folsom in SOMA, we walked in on a Friday night not knowing what kind of a place this was, I just figured it was a hole in the wall eatery. I asked the waitress if we could sit anywhere and she responded no, do you have a reservation? We did not. Thinking to my self, "this is a little odd, there are open seats all over the place" We waited about five minutes and we were sat, and then the awesomeness began. Great wine, a good beer selection and a very courteous wait staff. The kitchen is open so you can see what the chefs are doing. I knew from watching them that the food here was going to be epic. I had potine with braised pork, and it might be the best thing I have eaten here in SF. By the time we were done eating, about an hour later, there was a line out the door of people waiting for tables and all the tables were packed. Even though there was a line out the door, not once did my party and I feel like we were being pushed out the door. We sat and enjoyed drinks well after we were done eating. This is an awesome place, and I will definitely go back.

Fun hipster diner decor matches the reinterpreted American comfort food. Started with a light salad of greens and summer stonefruit, which left plenty of room for the mac & cheese. 3 onion rings piled on top -- slightly off on the onion to batter ratio (onions cut too thick?) but delicious. Mac & cheese had lots of good crispy brown bits and was much lighter than expected. Can't wait to go back!
