It's official: this place makes better gumbo than maw-maw. As a home grown Louisiana boy, the chef gets it. Had oysters, frog legs, a poboy and a bowl of gumbo and couldn't get over how good each and every dish was. Service was better than expected considering how absurdly packed the place was, suboptimal but par for the course in this part of the city. Decor nails the New Orleans feel, but most importantly, the chef nails the "high end" New Orleans taste. Definitely bringing all my friends.

Tiny inside but the food is delicious! The hangar steak is spot on and the fries are the best I've had. Ever. Very tasty rotisserie chicken seasoned perfectly! Roasted potatoes and green beans are excellent sides. You'd be foolish not to get dessert here.

Initial attentiveness tapered dramatically. The gumbo was just okay. It was more soup than gumbo. Staff never checked on us during our meal nor asked if everything was okay when presenting the bill. No refills were offered, no offer for additional drinks (alcoholic/nonalcoholic). Side dish was never delivered yet was on the bill. Food pricing on the high side considering the meager portions. Will not return.

This place is amazing! We started off with crawfish and the frog legs. The crawfish were small because it was toward the end of the season, but delicious nonetheless. The frog legs were superb! Every bite would fill your mouth with just enough Tabasco to still taste the meat. My boyfriend ordered the flounder as his entrée and I will admit, I for sure will be ordering the flounder on my next venture to this place. It was served with long beans and brown rice. I ordered a catfish po'boy since I'd been craving once ever since I tried my first in New Orleans back in 2014. The chef himself was present and was out conversing with his guests upon finishing their dishes. Not too many tables so I'd definitely recommend reserving a table before hand. My boyfriend and I just happened upon it and we were seated at the counter which wasn't too back, but I think having a table would have enhanced our experience here all the more.

This new restaurant is the Mission is great! If you love Creol food, you will love Bayou. Chef Arthur is from NOLA and it shows in his delicious and authentic Creol menu. I started with the frog legs and they were killer. This place has a good balance between high-end food and casual feel.

Found the crawfish ettouffe kind of underwhelming, and generally didn't like the cajun/creole food here as much as Alba Ray's a few blocks away. I've been missing the food I used to get when I visited New Orleans, and was kind of disappointed by this place.

Went in for dinner with a couple of friends. Things started out great with prompt attention. Our order was taken. I had a PoBoy and, after inquiring about what the ingredients were in the cole slaw, added it as a side. Our drinks came and shortly after the appetizer. It was ok. Then our entree came. No side though for me. For the entire meal, we never got checked on again. No checking on things, no offer for another glass of wine, no refills for tea, nothing. Oh and the side never came. Then the bill came. And yes, the side was charged anyway. When someone came to collect the bill, I pointed it out. Got a sorry but that was all. No genuine apology. It was as though it was inconvenient for them. Tip reflected this and our friends, who live blocks away and suggested it, will not return. Food was OK at best. It certainly did not live up to the name. Sorry Bayou, might have returned if the service hadn't been so terrible.
