Bean There Cafe

I was positively surprised by this cafe. The style is quite basic in terms of decor and so, but it has a very peaceful and relaxed atmosphere. It's a great place to go and read or get some work done (I'd say 50% of the customers had laptops the day I went). The reason for this is basically that the staff doesn't push customers to leave, and people are comfortable chilling there. Also, the coffee and pastries are good and they have empanadas and some other lunch options in the menu.

This is my favorite local coffee shop. The atmosphere is completely relaxed and you don't have to worry about sitting here for 3 hours after only ordering one cup of coffee. The coffee is good and they have a wide selection of teas. The huge windows provide hours of people watching entertainment. Come with a good book or to use the free wi-fi. It's like sitting in your living room, but not in your living room. ;)

In a previous job where I telecommuted a lot, I spend many an afternoon working in Bean There. The coffee and tea is good, the staff is friendly, it's bright and airy, there is art on the wall, there are power sockets, the WiFi is reasonably fast, and there is outdoor seating. It has an eclectic and interesting mix of people hanging out: telecommuters like me, students, writers, tourists, nannies with kids, and elderly couples. It's right on a corner of the Wiggle so you get to see the occasional drama of the interaction of a continuous flow of bikes with pedestrians and motorists. For the price of a beverage every hour or so, it was my office away from home.

This place has a very relaxed vibe, ideal to get some work done or just sit outside with a hot coffee or tea (the selection for tea is huge!) Maybe the ambience is not very attractive, but the baristas are really nice people and will always treat you well. They have some gluten free pastries, I would recommend the cookies but not the muffins, those were too heavy, at least for me.

Decent neighborhood coffee place but the staff doesn't really care and so you end up waiting a long time for average food and dishes from previous guests often pile up on the tables, especially outside. Hayes Valley is really taking off but they will have to try harder if they want to fight the influx of other coffee places
