Mala! Mala! Mala! You know what I'm talking about, that spicy taste with a slight numbing sensation from Sichuan peppercorns. I just finished eating delivery from Z & Y and my thoughts are already turning to the next order. The spice level is just right and not overpowering. The quality of the meat is great and the cook spot on. Must eat: Explosive Fiery Chicken

Really tasty, authentic Szechuan and Beijing styled Chinese food! So happy to see Z&Y still open amidst the pandemic creating their classic recipes to such high caliber. Definitely coming back to get more food. The owner and staff are also extremely friendly and nice, so it's really meaningful to see that their business survived the COVID shutdowns. Definitely will recommend to my friends and family!

Food is good. Service is good. Atmosphere is good. I really enjoyed the soup dumplings. They were flavorful, warm, and delicious. I also had spicy beef and pork shoulder. The sauces are very good on all their dishes. The pork shoulder was very tender and the meat almost melts in your mouth. The spicy beef was very appealing to the eye, and it ended up being very flavorful.

This place tries to place itself over lower cost restaurants in Chinatown by offering higher prices, extra charges, tea guy who performs one act of pouring tea, and Obama was apparently here. Aside from that, the low rating is simple. All the food that came out was overly salty. It was really really salty. Not only that they charge $2.50 for a small, I repeat small, bowl of rice is that is only big enough for a small child. If you want to eat normal rice, you'll need two bowls and that will be extra of course. The tea is $8 for the pot. Not extreme compared to other places that also charge you tea, but basically tea and rice is about 25% cost of our meal. So, salty and over priced extras. I'd rather eat cheap and get better food elsewhere.

My husband and I were vacationing in San Francisco and were craving some Chinese food. It looked like Z and Y received good reviews. We chose to order the fried rice and egg rolls. The eggs rolls were bland and tasted like frozen egg rolls you get at the local super market. The chicken in the fried rice was chewy and had a weird texture. We could not finish our meal , it was that bad. We ate at many restaurants in San Francisco that week , all were delicious but who would have thunk the Chinese Food at Z and Y in China Town was one of the worst Chinese foods I have ever eaten.

This place is amazing!!! Came here after a day of wondering around China town. Best fried rice I have ever had. Actually all the food was the great. They do some of the best flavored spicy food I've ever had in my life. It's not just spicy but also so tasty with flavors that are unmatched. Service here is also fantastic. The tea guy is truly amazing and everything made for an unforgettable experience.
