Bistro Tupaz

I came in with a group of my family (4 in total) and we were surprised by the atmosphere and menu. We ordered the fish & chips (light, not bathed in batter, flakey), the hamburger (freshly ground beef & homemade everything except the ketchup), the shrimp and chips (juicy shrimp and well seasoned fries) & the Chicken Parmesan (looking delicious and plenty of chicken). The prices for all of this were reasonable and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable about what they served. Definitely coming back here soon.

Definitely a hidden gem, South San Jose's best kept secret! The food is ridiculously good! It's not necessarily fancy fare, but it's like they know HOW TO COOK. Textures, tastes.... My dad got the fish and chips... And there was fish in them there fish and chips! The batter was light and flaky - wow. Between the burger, chicken Parm sandwich, and risotto, the fish won that day. I absent-mindedly put a French fry in my mouth - and did a double take. I hadn't expected to care one way or the other and had wanted the sweet potato fries (great too) - but these were the best fries ever! When the weather warms, EAT OUTSIDE - out the back!

Relaxing place with delicious food. Not too busy at lunch, which means a nonstressful atmosphere with a big wall of windows for good light in the afternoon. The service is friendly, and food comes out quickly. They don't rush you once you do have your meal. The salads are huge, a full meal. The Greek salad, pictured with shrimp, can also be made with chicken or beef or meat substitute or no meat at all. I've only had their French Onion soup, which has lots of cheese, but not enough onion for me. The shrimp is the best thing I have had here. It is perfectly fried in a light batter that gives it just enough crunch without taking away from the taste of the shrimp. You can substitute any of the sides for the regular chips if you choose to do so. I always sub the chips with sweet potato fries. When we were seated, the table was given bread with homemade orange marmalade with honey - wonderful! 😋
