Don Pedro's Restaurant

Have been here before many times, used to eat here with my father, he is no longer with us...and it's always a great experience! The staff has always been the same, there has been no turnover since I've been coming here and the owners have been here forever, great couple, very very friendly. I recommend this restaurant fully and will always support it wholeheartedly. The food is delish and the portions are great. Pricing is very comparable to other restaurants of it's type in the dtSJ area. Also, it's a good place to come and have a drink with friends at their bar. I will keep coming here for as long as they are in operation. May G-d bless them always.

The food here is excellent but the service and atmosphere leave a lot to be desired. I really liked the salsa and the chimichanga was great. The shredded chicken in the chimichanga was prepared very well. However, the restaurant was pretty plain and was unpleasantly loud. It sounded like there was a leaf blower running in the kitchen the whole time I was there that I assume was some type of blender. The service also wasn’t the best. I had to go up to the counter because I wanted more water and had to flag someone down to pay the bill.

Don't let appearances fool you, this is solid home cooking located near the downtown hotels and within easy, safe walking distance. Wasn't sure if this was for locals only but the vibe was welcoming, the service like home, prices were totally reasonable, and the carnitas were on point. Total hidden gem and it looked like they do late night street tacos, etc. for when the bars let out.
