Little Chef Counter

Located inside the San Pedro Square Market building, it has a small kitchen and you can watch them work as you wait for your food. I thought the food was great -- I love that this area of Downtown San Jose has delicious food options now with communal seating area outside on the patio. I got the smoked salmon sandwich with salad (choice of fries or salad) and short rib poutine. Both were delicious! The salmon was tender and buttery on a toasted French roll; the poutine was made with tender short ribs and au jus instead of gravy. My friends and I grabbed our food and sat outside on the patio.

The menu here is really interesting and the dish I tried was surprisingly good for being a fast-food esque walk up restaurant. I had the loco-moco, described as '100% ground beef patty, crispy – fried risotto, fried egg topped off with mushroom cream sauce'. It wasn't quite as good as I had hoped, but it was still a very solid dish (especially for the $11 price tag). If you're near San Pedro Square, I would definitely recommend giving this a shot.

Little Chef Counter is an American Dream come true for proprietors Chef Robert Dasalla and Partner Chef/Creative Director Steven Le. These two young men have created a Chef's culinary success story.
