Yu-Raku is ran by a Japanese chef. The food tasted fine but it was lacking. Today I had the tonkotsu ramen $15.50 and a side of small fried rice $8.50. The ramen ($15.50) was served with a lukewarm broth containing two pieces of resilient pork. I would have preferred the meat to be softer or maybe fattier so that it melts in your mouth. The rest of the ramen toppings were forgettable, 1/2 of an egg, fungus, green onions and seaweed. It tasted boring. The small side of fried rice ($8.50) was boring as well. It had chopped pieces of pork, egg and rice. I left the restaurant hungry. Usually I'm pretty full after eating an appetizer and an entree, but not at this place. My bill was $31 with tax and tip.

Edit: came back after more than a year and several other ramen restaurants tried; and had the miso ramen $12.50. Didnt like it, doesnt have as much multidimensional flavor as the tonkatsu, (now $13.50) it just felt salty to me. The noodles were good, cooked firm, the egg was also fine, the meat looked a bit different to what I'm used to in other ramen. My companion got the tantan and that one was so much better: spicy, salty, and a bit sweet from the ground pork. I'd get this one again, except its $15.50 which is a bit pricey in my opinion. Service is good, restaurant wasnt very busy on a Sunday. The quality of the ramen is good, I probably shouldn't have gotten miso, but I didnt want to spend much more money on a more special ramen and thoguht the miso would be good enough already. Original: Good tonkotsu ramen~ we got 3 bowls, mine without garlic, and they were delicious. Plenty of noodles,2 thin pieces of pork, some seaweed and a soft boiled egg. The bowl is $12, there are a couple more economic bowls (shoyu, miso) for $10.50 and some special bowls that go up to $16. The restaurant serves a variety of dishes other than ramen, like rice bowls, fried rice, appetizers (gyoza), etc. Service is correct and nice, the restaurant was almost full but we were seated and served very fast.

Tried to order $17 of a ramen and side dish for two people. Was then told by waitress no, we need to order more. She says there's a minimum order, and tried to find documentation for her claim, but couldnt. She then mumbled saying it's "about $10 per person". So we added toppings to the ramen. I don't eat much and always have food leftover and wasted. So I didn't appreciate being told to spend more. Food quality wise: 💭Ramen is lackluster. Not strong tonkotsu flavor, instead, it's kinda milky. The egg is well done though. 💭Their gyudon is awesome, beefy and juicy. This I recommend. Maybe I'll come back here for the don, maybe not.

Delicious but a bit pricy. Ramen soup is probably cooked with a lot of fat, sugar, and chicken stock because it tastes utterly sweet. If you cook at home, you’d know the ramen soup most have a lot of something else. I do like the mini scallops in the seafood salad.

Edit, have been coming back to this place time after time. While the ramen is pricy, it is also very very good. The tonkotsu is flavorful beyond expectations. It has become my favorite ramen around.

Real authentic Japanese style Chinese restaurant made by a Japanese cook. I feel 80% of the customers are Japanese. My favorite ramen place in Bay Area.

6 STARS *My favorite restaurant in the world* These folks are the best. I love their Chuka. After having tried close to everything on their menu, there are only a handful of things I wouldn't order again. Super friendly staff. Clean facilities. Lovely menus. Tasty draft beers. This review does not do their food justice, but the longer I write the hungrier I get!! Only con: they're getting a wee bit pricey. Still totally worth.
