Taishoken

Updated review 2/6/2022: No wait on a Sunday at 10:50am. Amazing! We had the Tokusei ramen $17 x2 and the Niku spicy ramen $18. The ramens came out quick and tasted great as always. It is hard to appreciate the subtle precise flavors of this ramen restaurant until you go to the non- authentic Japanese places. Wow. So much better here. Eggs are always jelly. The dinner service's broth taste richer than the lunch service. Tip: their ramen is better than their dipping noodles. Great job staff at Taishoken. original review: One of the best ramen places in San Mateo. I'm not a fan of their dipping noodles, tsukemen. Their ramen is very good though.

First time having tsukemen ramen and I really enjoyed it! Great flavor and the noodles were a good texture. The takoyaki was also pretty good. We did have to ask to check in on one of the ramens we ordered since it didn't come out but the employees were very apologetic and quickly made and brought out another ramen so no complaints!

Really good dipping noodles (tsukemen) and the fatty char siu is perfectly cooked. The broth had really nice flavor and wasn't too salty like other tsukemen places. However, there was too much yuzu flavor in the broth for my liking (maybe I'm too sensitive to it?) and I would've rathered another piece of the fatty char siu than the thin slice. Service and staff were quick and extremely kind! Definitely a good place for tsukemen and will try again in the future!

Take out review: Broth was flavorful and the noodles were a good texture. The chashu was also tasty and had just the right amount of fat. At 17-18 dollars, it can get pricey but they did give a lot of noodles. As the noodles and broth cooled down so did the experience. Probably wouldn't get take out next time but I'll definitely try to eat in! Food: 7/10 Value: 5/10

Tsukemen was really good! After you finish the ramen, you can ask the waiter to add dashi water in the dip and drink it as a soup. The waiter didn't offer it to us so we had to explicitly ask them for it, which was a little disappointed Other ramen was a bit average. Gyuza tempura was not worth the money.

I just returned after a year, and the taste is still spectacular! We dined inside, this time, with an open doorway that provided fresh air. There is also outdoor seating; Lots of space for groups. The menu is contactless. You can order and pay right from your phone or if you prefer, a server. The food came out quickly, and the service was excellent. I ordered the Ajitama ramen without the pork; it was perfect! This place is worth your money if you're into Ramen!

Quick service, servers are pleasant, nice ambience. Ordered the special Tsukemen, noodles are served cold but the broth is hot. Food was pretty good but I should've gone with the regular Tsukemen because the extra Jidori soft boiled egg and Sous-vide chasu wasn't anything special. Regular chashu was far better than the special one. I asked for a small cup of Ramen Broth and they gave it to me to try! Def gonna try the ramen next time, broth tasted amazing. Recommended!
