The Halford

This place is excellent. They have one of the best (the best?) beer selections in the area. And the food is spot on, with some Korean flair. I had spicy pork bulgogi sliders that were so tasty and on one of the freshest rolls I’ve ever eaten. They have robot servers that are interact. The food was cooked perfectly and didn’t take very long so kudos to the kitchen staff. It’s a very casual place with bar seating, tables and lounge areas on couches. There is no table service and the bartenders are excellent.

A friend really likes this place and I joined him a few times. Impressive place, when it comes to beer. I think they serve somewhere around 50 different types, and the staff knows their beer. The place has also been reviewed and written about by beer connoisseurs -- I know because when I was there bunch of them were talking about their reviews. I am a total lightweight, and every time they recommended something they made sure I know the alcohol content, got it in small glass and it was Absolutely Great suggestion. Their finger foods are good too. One of the partners is owned by a techie guy so periodically they have these robots run around delivering food which is funny :-)

Super disappointed in this place. This was our first time back since the start of the pandemic and it isn't even a shadow of it's former self. Food took a long time, was cooked poorly, had little to no flavor, and was over priced. $18 for a burger that would lose our to McDonalds and didn't even come with fries. Used to love going here for the good food with large beer selection, but now it's full of beer I can find at total wines.

Lots of beer on tap in every style you can imagine. Light and crisp, fruity sours, dank IPAs, dark and sweet. Plus a great selection of ciders and meads. Nearly everything is local to the Bay Area or at least from California. Not much food... mostly munchie stuff. Watch it for the Korean sauce on the wings...SPICY. They also have robots serving the food which is pretty cool. Contactless ordering and payment option for food. Family owned and super friendly.

I paid a visit to The Halford on a Tuesday afternoon for the first time. Call it a business meeting of sorts but my timing was a bit strange and the place was eerily empty. I had two absolutely delicious dust bowl quad ipa’s (forget the name) that would have left me spinning if it weren’t for the absolutely fantastic burger I had as well. As for the guy in the past review saying the burger wasn’t even compatible to his local McDonalds, he must be out of his mind! Should probably switch the type of fries but OMG, delicious burger with wonderful, fresh lettuce! I did have to chuckle when the delivery robot didn’t successfully make it to my table but it was a fun experience. Sort of odd that the robot will bring you food but then you have to get up, walk across the entire place to get your own silverware, napkins, sauce etc. Knocking off one star for the insane amount of cameras in the ceiling. Guessing this is for the robots but it still lends a creep factor. Wish I could have put food and drink on one tab as well. Anyway, good beer, superb burger, I’ll be back.
