The Clock Cafe

Great location near the Italian Garden South Cliff Scarborough. Wide selection of food on the menu and great specials. Order at the counter, and the food is delivered to the table. We had a great table outside with a fantastic view of the bay, beach, and harbour. Helpful friendly staff, note it was Cash Only when we visited - a novelty these days.

I have eaten here many times and have never been disappointed by the food. The service is friendly however there is always a big queue. The only menu is above the counter, which can be a bit awkward to read if you have trouble seeing. It would be nice to have individual menus on each table as well. The clock on top of the clock cafe needs a good clean as it is very dirty and you can barely tell the time from it. Apart from these things the cafe is a great place to eat with beautiful views of Scarborough's south bay.

The Clock Cafe has THE BEST view imaginable. Delightful afternoon teas and quaint china cups, but there is nothing quaint about the portions - they serve proper Yorkshire farmhouse portions! They give fantastic value for money - we shared one as we hadn't gone there purposefully for afternoon tea but couldn't resist. We still brought a scone home as couldn't finish it. The homemade cakes and treats are gorgeous. I didn't have a lot of cash as it wasn't a planned visit, but you can arrange to pay by bank transfer, they don't have a card machine as it is such a patchy signal area, and even though it did look as though my bank payment had gone through, it has disappeared and I looked like I did a runner - the very understanding team requested contact numbers when paying by bank transfer and they messaged me to explain that the signal maybe affected my transaction. Oh well....we will just have to pop down to settle up....and sample the breakfasts next time, perfect excuse :)

Nice spot to stop for refreshments. Service was very friendly, but it was incredibly busy, so I queued for about 20 minutes for a couple of bottles of water and a slice of cake! The millionaires shortbread was excellent, though. I'd go back again. Had to pay by bank transfer as they don't take card payments. Easy enough to do, though

What a find.! Loved this place traditional coffee bar with reasonable prices and good hearty food. A GOOD! pot of tea in a pot with extra hot water the way tea should be served. Food was great with plenty of choices of sauces. I had A lamb burger chips served with side salad and mint sauce. Really enjoyed that. Staff were lovely attentive and quick. Lovely view over South bay and the old castle wall. The walk back past the spa has lots of interesting things to see

Location is stunning. I could sit outside for hours on end, admiring the view and feeling the sun / wind on my face. Super value and wonderfully straight forward food. There's often no food in the world that's as satisfying as a pot of tea, egg and chips and a big slice of coffee & walnut cake. It's a step back to 1977 and perfectly retained in every way - dandelion & burdock and breakaway biscuits still reign supreme, there's no need for Innocent smoothies and granola bars in here. A cafe to rival the best from Sydney to Stockholm. (Amazing value too).
