The Cats Pyjamas Cafe Bar & Eatery

A rather unusual kind of café that serves an excellent coffee of an apparently bespoke blend unique to this business. This was my first visit, but I noticed that it attracts some strange characters. The service was friendly and very quick, the only distraction being the background music, which I found irritating for some reason that I can't explain. The counter is very high, and I was amused that only the head of the girl at the counter was visible. It isn't the kind of venue that I would like to spend much time in, though the decorations are interesting.

Gets very busy, so waiting for a table can be hit and miss but definitely worth the wait. Lovely freshly baked treat, cakes, pies and scones. Extensive lunch menu with plenty of options for all tastes. Great hot and cold drinks menu. Staff have always been very attentive welcoming and polite on out many visits. Location is situated a top of cliff side next to vernacular rail tram with views over the bay. Inside and outside seating available as well as an upper floor. Unfortunately toilets on upper floor so no wheelchair disabled access. Pricing competitive to surroundings bistros/eaterys. Worth a visit

Came in with me mam for lunch/tea and only just made it before food service finishes the food we both enjoyed great cook there chef, the lady who served us was polite and sweet. Reminds me of my own place of work the whole theme and as a chef myself I’m impressed. Happy customers and will come back on our visit to Scarborough again 🙂

Sited at the top of the cliff tram by the Grand Hotel. Spacious, attractive old building with iron girders and pillars within. Some of the products are homemade. Tomato and basil soup was nice and I got tempted by the red velvet cake. Slightly disappointed in the cake as it was quite hard, not of fluffy texture and wasn't the best red velvet I've had. (The café up on Oliver's Mount, aptly enough called Oliver's (ha) does some of the best cakes in the locale and their red velvet cake is yummy.) Food came on attractive wooden boards, but with the cake, the trouble with that was it was unavoidable that lots of crumbs spread onto the table as it was a small board to the hefty hunk of cake. Plenty of additional seating outside. It's a licensed premises as well.
