Marks Of Castle Road

3pm on a Saturday afternoon. We have eaten elsewhere at this time before and have been disappointed. Not so at Marks. Haddock and Chips twice with scraps. Cooked fresh to order. Most excellent. Could not fault anything, even the packaging. Customer service, spot on. Waited about 5 minutes, but it was well worth it. Its a proper Fish and Chip shop, so don't expect pizza or a Kebab. Great tasting Fish and Chips is what you get.

What can I say about this plaice? I have been fortunate to visit North Marine Road with Surrey in 3 of the last 4 years, enjoying two victories and one defeat. I've heard the cricket commentators mention a couple of their favourites, but this one is the Best, believe me. I took a couple of newbies last month, and I was delighted when one of them said 'the batter just melted in my mouth'. They kindly agreed to join me at my favourite hostelry - and accomodation this year - and being a man of habit, I was delighted to hear they'd had a discussion in their own hotel about their preferred eating arrangements for the following day. They advised me, that like me, they would like to eat at Marks Fish and Chips on the following night, as well! The Medium Haddock & Chips is highly recommended, with Tartare sauce, of course. Congratulations to Mark and the Team. I hope to be back next year, if Surrey are in town!
