Indian Taj

I've lived in Scarborough for 13 years and have never eaten in any of the Indian restaurants. Their food hygiene ratings have consistently scored low, and the menus are generally geared towards an English palette, often containing sugar. So you can imagine how happy I am that Taj Indian Restaurant has opened its doors on Falsgrave, serving deliciously authentic Indian cuisine with enthusiastic, helpful and attentive staff who deliver excellent customer service. Owner and Head Chef Mo has created a varied menu that will tantalise your taste buds and take you on a journey of the beautiful food served in his homeland. Our chosen dishes were deliciously spiced, fragrant, perfectly cooked, and served with a smile. Taj Indian Restaurant is just what Scarborough has been waiting for, and I for one, can't wait to return.

This was our first visit to this restaurant. We had walked past a few times and the smell of the food was fabulous so booked a table and we were not disappointed. Everything from the food to the staff was brilliant. We ordered the Lamb Boona and Lamb Korma with lemon rice and a Peshawari Naan with a Mango smoothie and a sticky toffee pudding as dessert and it was all delicious. We will be going back as soon as possible.

The best Indian food I’ve had in the UK we normally visit weekly and have never had a bad meal it’s always been 10/10 food is lovely and fresh and the service is very quick. Would definitely recommend to anybody who’s looking for an Indian restaurant to which serves top quality food. Can’t wait until our next visit next week

Taj doesn't have an alcohol licence. They're quick to tell you, and even point you in the direction of a cheap local supplier if you'd like. There's a small "corkage" fee. They do supply non-alcoholic drinks if required. I mentioned this first as for many this is important. I was fine either way. The service was great. Very helpful and thoughtful staff. They provided advice when ordering, and were aware of the progress of the table, without hovering. The food was great too. Certainly, a new one for my favourites list. I'd happily recommend this place.
