Super nice service, you just can’t resist smiling back genuinely! The food was awesome too: miso soup was hot and had some silk tofu, seaweed salad was good, sashimi was pretty good, especially the red tuna, even the rice had a yum spice on it; the Obasan roll is huge and yum! Had to take almost half to go! Prices are very reasonable, especially for Seattle. Also the interior is nice and they had pretty Asian music in the background, not too loud.

This is my favorite sushi restaurant in the city, by far! They have a wide selection, huge portions for the price and the lady who always runs the front is so sweet! Whenever I go anywhere else I end up disappointed because it isn’t like this place! The nigiri is fresh and the pieces are large and the rolls are huge and packed with flavor! Also their saki selection is pretty good and they have ramen and udon as well as other hot plates if you are not in the mood for sushi. Definitely give them a try! I have never been disappointed!

Wonderful staff! Delicious reasonably priced good in comparison to other Seattle restaurants. I eat here regularly and have had consistently great experiences. - I once came with a Deaf couple and the service staff had great respect and patience for the translation process. I have a lot of respect for this restaurant.

I had lunch with some co-workers here and it was a great experience. The sushi was incredible and their bento options were huge, so be sure to bring your appetite. My only complaint was that there was only one waitress and it was pretty busy so we had to wait a while to order, get our food, and pay. Even considering that we'll definitely be back.

Food is excellent, very genuine. Average pricing, but their happy hour makes it worth it for smaller rolls, and $2 Nigiri is a steal. Venue is somewhat lacking, and is the reason for the 4 star review. Power shifts on and off and the building obviously needs a remodel. Otherwise an excellent experience. Would recommend for someone who is looking for a comfortable get together or a quiet, authentic japanese meal.

I loved the bento box so much. There was soooo much food. My only complaint is the tempura batter was a bit bland and the sauce they serve with it was also bland. The sushi, the soup, the dumplings, and the service were all superb. Definitely would dine again.

This place has been a personal favorite of mine for years. May, the owner/waitress, is super sweet. I've hosted my birthday dinners here 3 times in the last 5 years and they've never been anything less than extremely accommodating. I love this place because the rolls are always large and very fresh portions of fish rather than lots of rice. It's the same for an avocado roll with lots of avocado. There are NO skimpy portions here. You really can't go wrong with their sushi. Their variety of salmon rolls are delicious, fresh tuna rolls are one of my favorites, and their spicy tuna is the hit! When I explain this place to others I always say the quality is like Umi sushi but without the ambiance (of the restaurant) and the unnecessiraly large menu at Umi. Obasan has a great variety of all the best seafood options, great beer and sake selection as well. It's a simple venue, but a great dining experience with even better food. Anyone who enjoys fresh sushi would be doing themselves a disservice by not eating at Obasan. That's the truth my friends!

The food is way above average- the sauces are perfect. The wasabi the tempura the chicken- all perfect! I ordered mine to go and came in to pick it up- the adorable woman there made me some tea and made me feel welcome and she was very friendly/sweet- but in a genuine way. I'll definitely be going back to sit and relax and enjoy the good food and service!
