Makeda Coffee

Nice, dog-friendly (say hi to Mingus) spot with cheerful staff tucked just off the arterial (push through the neighbors' brunch line and enjoy some better coffee and eavesdrop or participate in the chatty locals' shop-spanning discussion). Options and interesting concoctions abound. Available single origin espresso make for a delightfully novel treat on occasion.

This is my favorite coffee and hang out spot in the greater Greenwood/Ballard/Phinney area. The coffee is always on point, and the specialty drinks (like the delicious golden milk latte with coconut milk omg) are delicious. All the food I've tried, like the breakfast sandwiches, pastries, and night where Indian dinner is served, have been super tasty. It's not just a coffee shop, it's a community where I've seen many regulars return and befriend each other. The owner and baristas are amazingly friendly, and there are always cool events happening like craft night or art walks. There's also beer and fun local art and crafts, AND PUPPIES! Mingus, the owner's dog (or is he the owner? Who knows!) is a sweetie and lots of people bring their pups in and hang out. This place is the be!
