It was a very busy day for both Ma’ono Fried Chicken and Rachel’s Ginger Brew but we still were able to get a spot to sit. The food came out warm but not hot. Which would be fine for the chicken sandwich but the fries at warm to cooler temp made them not quite as tasty. I would go for the level 3 spicy next time.

A little hard to find the first time, but a fantastic atmospheric spot. The service is typically quick, though can be a bit of a wait when it’s busy. Spicy level does vary, sometimes each level can be more or less spicy.

Waited over an hour because they lost the order. They apologized and put a rush on it, but that’s it. When you screw up as a business, the onus is on you to make it right. Ma’ono hasn’t learned that. Their process for putting to-go orders on a shelf in a crowded bar space is a recipe for frequent mistakes.
Update: Giving back 2 stars because the chicken sandwiches are amazing/especially delicious.

This is a four star place. Food is solid but not that great. I had the fried chicken sandwich which had good crust but wasn't that flavorful and toppings were fine. I asked for ranch to make it taste better. Cucumber poke was quite nice.

Ma'ono and Rachel's Ginger Beer share a shop front. Service was great, dining experience is super casual (counter service), and the food was satisfying. French fries were particularly satisfying. Pretty cool that you can mix ginger beer flavors!

Hands down THE BEST chicken sandwich I’ve had in my life (not kidding). There’s something about this place… their fried sandwich is just *chef’s kiss*
I always recommend Ma’ono if I’m in Uvillage and need a quick bite to eat, but I definitely want to stop by their other locations too!! You have to order the fries separately and the side of pickles, then get a drink from Rachel’s Ginger Beer while you’re waiting. I will say their chicken is definitely on the oilier side…it’s notttt the healthiest, but I guess we are talking about fried chicken here lol.
I always order my chicken “mild” which still has a little kick to it, the perfect amount in my opinion. You can customize everything to your liking and add different side options. Definitely stop by if you’re in the area!

fried drumsticks were juicy and succulent! but felt the skin could be more crunchy. Fries were decent with a slight crunch. The pulled chicken thigh sandwich was surprisingly good, although was smaller than expected. the BBQ sauce was a good complement though. Also got the honey mustard sauce which was a little too watery, making it hard for the sauce to stay on the food after dipping.

Ordered the fried chicken sandwich with medium heat and the potato mac salad. I loved the crispiness and texture of the chicken sandwich but the meat itself could’ve had more flavor. Also the medium heat level was very conservative. The potato mac salad was to my liking, I just wish there were salt and pepper shakers or packets provided so I could adjust the savoriness.

Anytime I come to the university village to help the wifey shop, I stop into Maona for an amazing chicken sandwich and fries. Be careful because even the medium sandwich is still pretty spicy. Grab some extra dipping sauces and also a drink from Rachel's ginger beer for a delicious cocktail. This is a very good lunch spot and will cure any fried chicken craving you may have. Not the cheapest burgers but the quality is exceptional.

Was looking for an afternoon snack and I thought why not a chicken sandwich? I happened to recall that there was a fried chicken place inside Rachel’s Ginger Beer, and decided to check it out.
I ordered it with mild spice and wished I ordered it spicier with extra pickles on the side because I wanted a tiny bit more acidity from the sandwich.
The sandwich itself? The fried chicken to bun ratio was massive in my opinion. I was really happy to discover that I got a thick large piece of chicken in between these soft buns. I wished there were more pickles (I think there were only 3 slices) but the ginger beer nicely compliments/finishes off the fried chicken. Overall pretty satisfied!
