Taproot Cafe & Bar

Needed some quick takeout for lunch today so stopped into Taproot for the first time. They had a hot italian sandwich on the specials menu so I ordered that and the woman told me it would be about 10 minutes so I went for a short walk and came back and my sandwich was ready. IT WAS DELICIOUS and I hope it becomes a staple on the menu - really good cuts of meat with olives, a few cherry tomatoes on a really good bun. Will definitely come back here. Only suggestion is it would be nice to have some paper menus instead of a QR code that brings you to the website.

Eat here! This place is fantastic. We really enjoyed our dinner here last night. Upon entering, It looks like a dimly lit, unassuming little local bar. But the dinner menu shows some real talent. We had a crab bisque, a beet & orange supreme salad, prosciutto and olives, eggplant parmigiana, braised short ribs and a house made lemon tart for dessert! OMG! I don’t even need to say “house-made” because everything there is. It is also notable that this place is owner-operated and the owner himself was cooking our dinner. Rumor has it that he has experience cooking in some of the most notable restaurants in Seattle such as Le Pichet and Steelhead Diner. You can tell just by looking at the menu and wine list..

Fantastic food, amazing atmosphere, perfect service! My girlfriend and I went in for Friday date night and she ordered the bourbon butter shrimp, I ordered the coffee encrusted skirt steak. We were blown away! Drinks were spot on and the food was to die for!!! Highly recommend if you’re in Columbia city looking for a great spot to eat. We will be back forsure!! Best food we’ve had in a long time!
