Upshot Espresso

One of the famous quirky Sheffield cafes. Lovely minimalistic design inside, and great location. Staff are always chatty and in good humour and I've always been impressed with the coffee and food. They do great baked goods as well as savoury lunches. Nice range of coffee-related items (aeropress, cups etc). Only downside is it's on the pricey side.

I went for the coffee and, while it was fantastic, what I really remember is the food. Their food is amazing and certainly of a higher standard than I would generally expect from a coffee shop, even a specialty one. Try anything with a slice of toast and butter, their butter is the best one I've had for at least a year! They also had a cold brew & tonic, which is even better than espresso tonic!

The food and coffee are good, but the service seems a little haphazard. Being so close to the university and hospital, it is very busy around lunch times. The minimalist decor is pleasant, but the space is not large enough for the numbers trying to go there. It can end up feeling quite rushed, despite the delays from the busy staff.

Hands down the best coffee shop in Sheffield. Great service with knowledgeable but relaxed staff who don't push the whole coffee thing on you too hard. Fantastic coffee brewed in many ways to suit your preference. The range of coffee is excellent and often changing to introduce you to new tastes and flavours. The food is also excellent. Highly recommended.

Stumbled upon this place by mistake and was really surprised as even from the outside you can see how fresh and modern this place looks. From outside you can see their selection of cakes which is really inviting. On the inside very contemporary as a lot of independent coffee shops are now days. I've ordered an Americano to go, was given a cup of filter coffee unfortunately.. initially I was a bit disappointed but on the contrary it was extremely delicious; brewed nicely so good flavours coming through. I've also picked up a ciabatta sandwich to go and that was also really delicious. I will DEFINITELY visit again.
