Strawn's Eat Shop

I'm not exactly sure why we have never came here in the past, just never did, boy were we missing out. Parked in the rear of the building and came in the back door. On the way in, we were talking about never having been there. Well low and behold as soon as we sit down at our table the owner brings us a slice of strawberry pie. He says, "I heard you have never been here before. Here's a slice on me." And that's when I knew I was in trouble. Let's just say that it was a very large meal with more pie to follow. So, the meal started with a slice of strawberry icebox pie. Easily the best part. It was delicious. The rest of what we got was great as well. I got a burger and fries and the Mrs. got the hamburger steak and mashed potatoes. After that we went ahead and got another slice to share. This time chocolate. Man, am I full! Well done Strawn's!

I've been hearing about Strawn's for YEARS ever since a lot of my friends attended Centenary and LSUS. So glad I could finally try it out. The staff is amazing, ever since I've moved from Louisiana I haven't quite experienced southern hospitality like this. The whipped cream is definitely legit you'll be able to tell immediately with a pie or even one of the breakfast items + whipped cream. Super affordable, charming... Hot on arrival. Can't say enough good things!

Classic greasy-spoon hole in the wall, lived up to the hype! Strawberry pie was made with fresh strawberries and was very good! Awesome looking hamburgers, I had the chicken fried steak, wife had the huge cob salad with freshly grilled chicken! Service was good and fast, authentic stop on a long road trip!

Hard to give four stars. But not far from it. The staff is wonderful and friendly, five out of five stars for staff alone. But the prices have gone up and the food has always been simple. Not bad by any means, but nothing to write home about. It's a wonderful place to go for breakfast or a quick bite. But to be honest the one saving grace for me is the biscuits. Above all else they have the best biscuits, and it is the sole reason I eat here... Well, that and a wonderful slice of pie afterwords. The biggest disappointment I can get here is getting in just a little too late and the kitchen being out of biscuits. It used to be if you got there a minute past nine am you were out of luck for sure, but it's been less and less an issue as of late. My recommendation will always be the hungry man special and a slice of pie, yum!

I like to travel and do different things. We were hungry my wife and I, I told her find me a spot that says they have good breakfast.. This place blew my mind for being a small all little shop stop in a small little town. Just wow. So 100% get thier hash browns,and a ice box pie. That whip cream is amazing. Wish I could steal it. I'm from Houston but I hope to make it back soon. Thanks for the good food.

My husband has lived here four years and I swore that I brought him here. Somehow, I failed. We came for Sunday brunch and met up with some friends. When we got there the place way SLAMMED! A super nice waitress called us over and asked how many of us there was. We said 4 and she motioned for us to stand somewhere while she cleaned our table. We were standing for MAYBE 3 minutes when the most rude server I have ever been around said “you are in the worst possible spot to be standing”. I replied, “I see that, is there somewhere that is better while she is cleaning our table? She told us to stand here”. She responded with, “I don’t care where you stand but you can stand here. I need to get there and you are in my way.” Then proceeded to push herself in between my husband and used her hands to do the “shoo shoo” motion. It was not my place to say anything back because she was obviously busy but so were the other waitresses who were absolutely incredible and sweet. Being busy is not an excuse for being rude. Our waitress was so sweet and did her job perfectly. I hated that my husbands very first experience was this woman.
