Nickys Mexican Restaurant

Overall everyone was happy with their food. The queso and salsa was really good as well. The food was a bit pricey but for the location I understand. It wasn’t very busy but the food did take some time. The only complaint was there frozen margaritas. The sourness was so over powering it was a challenge to actually drink.

After taking a nice evening stroll along the riverfront, we wanted an easy dinner in the area. All the restaurants looked empty and even the casino buffet looked terrible. The only place that had some customers was Nicky's Mexican Restaurant. What a mistake! We ordered the combo steak and chicken fajitas thinking that... at this price they would have quality meats. We were so wrong. After the surprisingly spicy salsa, we were dumbfounded by the bland fajita dish. Tried to spice it up with the salsa and some pepper, but still left half the plate. I HAVE NEVER LEFT MEAT ON A FAJITA PLATE...EVER. So check the pictures to see what you can expect here... never returning. Service was meh.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. The food was absolutely horrible!!! It had been years since I had dined there and I see why. My friend's meal was really terrible as well. She had nachos and they were super soggy. We talked to the manager who agreed to refund her for her meal but went back and forth with me about my meal. She did not want to take it off of my ticket. I have had the Chile Releno before but this was cold and had a very bad taste to it. The manager was so unprofessional!!! I would urge you to go to either another Nicky's location or to a different Mexican restaurant.

The carne asada is 🔥 FIRE...I'VE NEVER TASTED SUCH HEAVENLY GOODNESS...I eat here all the time but just had the Carne asada for the first time😍And I don't know if it's the cook 9/16/20 or what but I'm SOOOO Impressed with this plate. I even order my streak well done and still I can eat it with a baby spoon. I could chew this streak with no teeth😂 Now if I can just get them to add Carne asada FRIES to the menu I won't miss California so much.

My favorite of the chain - their margaritas make you tingle before you're halfway through the cup. And 2 for 1 is your best bargain (4:00 - 8:00 p.m. every day). Friendly wait staff, great food (not too salty), the BEST salsa in town...Every Monday is 2 for 1 Enchilada dinners. Many times there are bands out in the courtyard playing (like last night) so you have a nice meal and take your drink out to enjoy yourself with the entertainment. Service can be slow, but when I looked around there were at least 50 people there, so we were patient. Our waitress recognizes us because we go 2 - 3 times a month, and has 2 frozen margaritas waiting at the bar before we even sit down. Crazy about their appetizers too. I've had everything on the menu EXCEPT the burger. I'm there because I want Mexican, but if you have a picky eater, I get why it's on the menu. Always a good time.

I love you guys! The food, margaritas and fun are all awesome! It's just all around great! The managers are attentive, no-nonsense, professional restaurateurs. Last 3 visits my family and I have gotten extremely ill. I think their food isn't being stored or hot held properly. I had to pull over on the way home last time to vomit. Would not ever recommend this location to anyone. That being said, the location on Airline is amazing. Been going there for now than 10 years and NEVER had an issue. Go there!
