Maria's Souvlaki Greek Restaurant

I recently dined at a charming Greek restaurant located by the sea in Sidney. The cuisine was quite impressive, earning an 8/10 rating from me. The highlight was the lovely patio area that provided a delightful dining experience. The service was standard, with customers placing orders independently and settling the bill upfront. Overall, it was a great spot for enjoying Greek flavors and the serene oceanic backdrop.

Maria's is a favorite for Sidney, it always has been and that's why I made sure to go there on my visit. I cannot say no to the Gyros Donairs from there! I love the donairs. I've loved the souvlaki and the spanakopita and the falafel and all of the other things I've tried over the years, but I crave donairs the most so I make sure to stop by as often as I can whenever I visit the Island. This most recent time I showed up one week night just before the dinner rush. I was damn lucky with that timing because of the patron boom - it was amazing seeing the place fill up so quickly and see the staff shift gears to accommodate the massive influx of orders. My wrap was amazing once again, I saw a lot of happy faces around me, and I know the staff kicks things up a notch for their customers - thank you to everyone at Maria's!

Really delicious Greek food. I tried the beef gyro and enjoyed it. The fries were seasoned well. Beautiful little patio right out front. It is cafeteria style ordering just FYI so you have to go up to the counter to order everything and they don't really come to the table too often. But the service was friendly.

This was my first visit I had a chicken souvlaki wrap. I was very impressed with the quality of this single item. (If i eat more i will post my thoughts on it). All the different components of the wrap were delicious. The tomatoes were fresh, the tzatsziki sauce was homemade and delicious and the meat was mouth watering. Looking forward to eating some of their other menu items in the future.

Super friendly staff. I was pleasantly surprised by the fast service. One thing that can be improved is if they bring all orders together or at least within a short time from eachother. It is awkward when 3 people have their food in front of them and one person is waiting for 5 minutes. We wanted to eat together and the wait made the food a little cold. Chicken souvlaki was very delicious, although had I been given the choice, I would have preferred it without onions. Calamari was ok but there were some tiny pieces that had too much battering. Moussaka wasn't tasty. It had good ingredients but the taste was quite bland. Needed salt and spices. Overall 4 out of 5.
