Haidilao Hot Pot Bedok Mall

Came here for supper. Ordered 4 soup base- tomato, pig stomach and chicken, Sichuan mala and their fish soup. Tomato soup was not bad, pig stomach soup was a little too peppery, mala soup was good and numbing, fish soup was nice. Also ordered iberico pork, signature beef, pork jowl, sliced pork belly, signature mashed shrimpwah, thin vermicelli, fried tofu skin, salted egg you tiao, haidilao-styled noodle, mini cheese sausage, mantou, luncheon meat. The sliced meat was good. The pork jowl was quite fatty but still good. Their signature shrimp paste was not bad. It had a good bouncy texture. Salted egg yolk was ok, wished the you tiao was crispy but it went well with the condensed milk. I love the haidilao-styled noodles. Luncheon meat was of a good thickeness. Service was not bad. Was asked what drinks we would like when we were seated. Was also given fruits. Overall food was not bad. My favourite was seeing them perform using the haidilao-styled noodles and eating them.

Finally, 10 pax allowed on 29th March. All 10 of us, family and friends, went to Bedok HDL for a birthday celebration. Needless to say, legendary services, great food and addictive soups. I highly recommend their signature Tomato soup! My personal favourite! Also, we finally got 4 glasses of the “Happy Bear” for the very first time! We previously tried asking multiple times here and Tampines branch but they always tell us it’s out of stock. Actually when we requested for the “Happy Bear” drink on this day, they told us it’s out of stock, and we disappointingly replied: everytime we ask and you all will say it’s out of stock :( The manager then came over and said she will help us check if she could request a few glasses for us, and she came back with 4 glasses of it! If you don’t already know about it, the prices of Hai Di Lao are high. You are paying for their superb services and delicious dishes. Not a place to eat as often as you want if you are tight on budget, but definitely a place to go on special occasions.

The tomato soup base is nice and tasty. Mushroom soup base is light and plain. Fish ball with fish roe is q-y; mushroom pork ball is tender; shiitake mushroom is mushroomy; haidilao marinated beef taste unique and a little spicy; fried beadcurd is good as usual (to absorb the soup); pork is sliced thinly and easy to cook; prawn cake is unlike the usual, has a more crusty prata like exterior.

Food was good as always. Service was underwhelming compared to our usual HDL experience. Firstly, the soup base took more than 10mins to serve even though it was the first item that we ordered. The dishes were served before the soup base even though we were there at a non-peak hour (approx 2.30pm). Our service crew did not help us to remove the "bubbles/oil layer" from the first "boiling pot" and did not offer to laddle soup for us. Not that we can't do it ourselves but this service is usually the default of HDL. When we asked her to assist, she took away our soup bowls and "black chopsticks". Confused but ok.. we asked for a replacement bowl. The service crew was also tardy in clearing our empty or soiled plates. We had to call for her attention to top up our beverages. There a couple more little incidents that just didn't amount to the usual "feel good" experience that one would usually enjoy while dining at HDL... Lastly perhaps we were there during off peak, the restaurant was rather dim as multiple sections had their lights turned off, probably because the restaurant was quite empty. As rather frequent patrons of HDL, this experience was definitely below the average standard of service that we receive from HDL on a regular visit. Perhaps the crew wasn't feeling well or there were some other issues. Hopefully the next visit will be better :)

A was a very great experience dining in at bedok branch. It was even better when more dining pax is allowed, so you can order more options and share. HDL service is always been good, you can take away snacks, and many more other requests. It have never fail, but of course the price won't be cheap but then it worth it. Thank you.

First and definitely not the last. Our Server, Kai Ting was so impressive and helpful. Recommendations were spot on and her service was impeccable. Definitely deserve the praise for her service. Food was amazing and the ambience was perfect maybe cause it wasn’t as packed. Wonderful first experience and would definitely frequent the place again. Cheers.
