Strictly Pancakes

I went there 7 years ago. I am not a pancake person so I wae super reluctant to go but when I saw the menu I was surprised. strictly pancakes, to me, is a brunch place with (yummy) pancakes on the side or every dish. So you can have your English breakfast with pancakes and maple syrup. People are nice and the place is very peaceful. Although the menu is a bit pricy I believe it's nice to have a meal every now and then at Strictly Pancakes.

Food is delicious! Tried the Garlic Butter Prawns and the Banana Scotch. Garlic Butter Prawns pancakes were really fragrant and delicious (but probably quite unhealthy with all that butter). Smells unexpectedly like garlic bread which makes it really tempting. Could probably have a more generous service of the salad though to have some freshness to juxtapose the heavy butter taste. Banana Scotch pancakes were really nice as well. Unfortunately our experience was marred by atrocious service. Or the lack of. We were seated on the second floor, and half the time there was no service staff around and we had to keep waiting for someone to appear. Even when someone appeared it was hard to get the server's attention. We were seated furthest away from the stairs and the server almost never came near our tables. Our dessert pancakes took super long to come and we had to keep checking on it. Almost thought of leaving. Our dirty plates were left on the table for the longest time, and they served the dessert pancakes without getting new cutlery. Asked them, but they forgot, and the lone server on the second floor was busy doing other stuff like tidying up menus while we watched the ice cream melt. Had to walk down to the first floor to get cutlery ourselves only to see the servers loitering there. No apology at all until I got the check and requested not to pay the service charge. Although the food is good, I wouldn't come back in the near future.

Food was good and pancakes were fluffy. Staff were helpful. My issue is, a place that calls themselves strictly pancakes like American IHOP should at least provide whipped butter and not charge customers for extra butter and syrup. I mean even Mac Donald’s has those. We just got tiny cubes of almost frozen butter. Just for that I feel this place lost out.
