Tambuah Mas

The original restaurant, in operation since 1981. The building that they are in has been sold en bloc so they will not be around for long. Service is excellent and attentive, food is amazing. The sambal chilli is very spicy. They have 2 more outlets in Great world city and paragon. Listed in Michelin guide since it;s inception. Go and experience the Original ambience one last time.

This place has been around for a long time. Restaurant looked cosier n luxurious when I first visited in 1984. Recall the beautiful decorations and waiter n waitresses dressed in batik. Smell of delicious food hung in the air n the sambal belachan was served in the batu lesung (granite mortar & pestle). Menu has remained mostly the same, but it no longer looks nor taste the same. Place also looks worn and drabby. But it was still a nice visit to an old fren. Enjoy the photos.

Great flavours. The gado gado was good, especially the sauce but there was too much lettuce. The sate ayam, ayam goreng istimewa, and beef rendang were good. The tahu telur was great, especially the sauce. The oxtail soup was unremarkable and didn’t have much meat in it. From an earlier visit: The tahu telur was a large portion and had a warm, sweet sauce which complemented the savoury egg and beancurd. The sauce for the rendang lembu was great though the portion of beef was small. The ikan pepes tasted like there was more fish meat in it than the typical otah. The gado gado was not bad though it would be better if they’d used more cabbage and less iceberg lettuce. The flavour of the ayam goreng istimewa was great though the pieces of chicken were smaller than typical.

HORRIBLE. Ordered online via GrabFood, my 4 items were still "in kitchen" after 1.5hrs. It finally arrived after 2 hours+ and there were missing items. My gado-gado was just a handful of onions, cucumbers and gravy. Nothing else. Tahu goreng had no gravy, only tahu and tomatoes. Not worth the $ and not worth the wait. Not even worth the try. If you are going to take so long, the least you could do is get my order right. Or just don't accept online orders.
