Tunglok Teahouse Far East Square

As the name says, the restaurant is set up like an old style teahouse. We were here on a Sunday around 11am, so the number of customers was low, so service was pretty good. Food wasnt too bad, but nothing really to scream from the hills about. I wont say its terrible either though, it was a pleasant enough experience of your usual fare Chinese Tea House foods.

It was one of the most expensive lunches in an hour!....but no regrets as it's here that I stumbled on my favourite rice roll with fritters (za-leung)! We had a total order of 7 dim sum dishes. The usual staples ha-kau and siew mai were forgettable. The xiaolongbao, pan fried turnip cake, zongzi, deep fried yam, and the signature rice roll cheong fun (the described za-leung above) were outstanding!!!! Besides the awesome dim sum, I am definitely coming back to buy the candied walnuts with sesame ... these addictive pre-bites were the only ones I have tried in SG that did not reak qnd taste of stale oil.
