Upin Hot Pot

Went Clarke Quay outlet on a Sunday dinner to celebrate mother day. Group of 10. Place about 80% full. Staffs are very friendly and accommodating to our requests. Good service. Condiments (free flow) are charge at $3 per pax. Drinks and fruits are free. Soup base we had tomato, herbal chicken and pork based. Meats are fresh. Steam rice are served undercooked, staff is quick to apologize and replaced with noodle.

If you don't need the over the top, fancy service from HDL, this is a good place to consider. The service is good and genuine. Prices though may not necessarily be cheap once you start adding this and that, however, the portion is definitely more than HDL, Beauty in a Pot etc. For this visit, ordered the black chicken soup, slightly salty and less herbal, and the mala broth which was not too bad. For some of the items, they do not have half portion, and so you would have to order full. The sauces and fruits are at additional $3 per pax but did not go for it, as the soup base plus mala is flavorful enough, plus the small dishes and fruits selection are very minimal, hence not worth it in my opinion.

Surprisingly pretty good service here despite us utilising the Singapore Rediscovered Vouchers (SRV) and signing up for this Upin Hotpot Dinner + Singapore River Cruise. Attentive lady boss and her service staff attending carefully to our dining needs and hotpot set portions are more than adequate for 2 pax per table seating. Verdict: 😋😋😋 definitely must try

Think they’re trying to replicate HDL’s menu here but I will say that the food here is better than HDL, although none will ever match up to HDL’s service. Not to say I didn’t receive effusive service here but you wouldn’t enjoy over the top services or small dishes at Upin. We were served by a few extremely pleasant ladies and the bill was wayyyy more affordable than HDL.
