Half Pound Burger Bar & Grill

The half pound burger used to be my favorite burger place in Singapore...I went back on Sept 12, 2017 and it was a really disappointing experience. I brought a group of 15 people and I felt ashamed I praised this place so much. They have changed the cook, the recipe, increased the price ($18 to $20) and decreased the quality of the ingredients by so much that there is no more magic to it. 220g Angus beef: The waitress said they tried to keep the same meat provider but it didn't taste as nice so I doubt it is exactly the same provider. The patty also used to be cooked rare on request but the new cook obviously doesn't know the difference between rare and medium rare. Candied bacon: so candied it was burnt Truffled gouda: has been replaced by a thin slice of cheap "laughing cow type" of cheese Monterey Jack: no more Pickled daikon: has been replaced by a slice of pineapple which doesn't fit the taste The Parmesan cheese crust: no more The nice crispy fries: have been replaced by fries as good as McDonalds' The cherry tomatoes side dish: no more The salad on the side: the salad leaves were not the freshest The service: We all ordered burgers. 3 came first and the others came 20 minutes later. Slow. In a nutshell, I would not come back and would not recommend this place anymore.

Had an absolutely horrific experience here with my group. 1) Made a reservation but waited an hour for food whilst the table that came after us got served first. 2) Food was very obviously haphazardly prepared. Several medium burger patties arrived dry/well done, fries and pork burger came cold..I could go on.. 3) Slow to double confirm our freebies - we had to forsake them because we had a show to rush to. Had to forget the soup we ordered that never came as well. 4) Waitress tried her best - management needs to not throw their staff under the bus and step up to the plate properly. We got 20% off but only because we fought for it and not out of true sincerity/quality of service.

That was a damn good burger! The beef patty is excellent quality with no gristle. The bacon really made a difference. Nothing beat eating the burger whole with your hands. Fries were good too. Draft beer selection is great, not the usual selection you get around town. Seems to be a local Mum & Pop operation that wants to serve their customers well.

The burger I had was the MOAB and it was amazing because of how well it was cooked when I asked medium rare. Me and my friend got exactly that, the beer was good too and the service is also great. Its price is comparable to other burger restaurants and it fits in fairly with how its priced. All in all its great and definitely deserves more recognition.

Will not return ever again. I believe this place will close down soon. Wait time 1hr 52 mins. Trust me that standard of burger ain't worth that kind of wait. Was told on arrival that we'll have to wait 1 hr and had the feeling manager wants us to leave cos restaurant was not able to cope. Most of the menu were unavailable, waited 1 hr 52 mins for food which we finished in less than 15 mins. Restaurant only had 1 chef and 1 manager. 6 tables and they cannot cope. Clothes and hair all greased up after staying in that restaurant for 2 hrs. Poor ventilation. Not worth it. Won't return again.
