I've been visiting this bar in recent years, under the name of "Tony". Every time I visit, I have a limited budget, but Lewis and Patricia have recommended me interesting drinks that fit within my budget.
In view of recent Covid restrictions, they have to close shop at 10.30 PM daily, and there is no "live" music performance.

Hidden gem of a whisky bar for a group night out - The ExciseMan offers a wide selection of mid-range whiskys sourced over the many years that Lewis and Patricia have been running their distribution business. A visit won’t leave as large of a dent in your wallet as they’re also known for a generous pricing on doubles.

Had a great experience here with my friend, who has been frequenting this place. As with many reviews here, I agree that the owners had superb hospitality.. it felt like we were friends to them instead of customers, and they were always ready to offer their recommendations when we ask them for it. I also like the fact that unlike many other wine (and whisky) bars, they have a huge selection of Australian wines, and some of them, like the Voyager series, were really good!
Food-wise I really like their fries and samosas. Definitely recommended for anyone who goes there!

The ExciseMan is my favourite place to unwind and enjoy a dram or two (or three) of whisky.
For whisky lovers (like my husband), you’d be blown away by their menu, trust me. If you’re not sure what to have, just ask and explore! Lewis and Patricia are the heart and soul of ExciseMan. They are very passionate and extremely knowledgeable about their craft.

Great whisky and food! Pat and Lewis were impeccable with their warm service. Delicious food to go with an excellent flight of whiskies. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Will be back to try their wines!

Went on a Thursday evening from a friend’s recommendation and I loved it! Place has a beautiful copper interior, with Chesterfield lounge sofa and a relaxing vibe. Served by a lovely couple who were attentive and friendly. Food and service was excellent. Huge selection of whiskey, rum and there was wine too. Had vegetarian gyoza, pork sausage platter and because it was so yummy, 2x servings of hummus dip! Prices were reasonable. Definitely will be back!

Great ambience and service at The ExciseMan.
Really appreciate the recommendations by the staff. Despite being a wine & whisky bar, their Gin & Tonic was delicious. Snacks that promptly served to go along our drinks upon ordering. A well spent night to chill at The ExciseMan.

Extremely comfortable place to chill after dinner. Lewis & Patricia’s warm hospitality coupled with high quality cocktails made it a perfect night. Will be back again!
