Soup Restaurant Vivocity

The portion size is significantly getting smaller. This perhaps due to COVID and efforts to keep the same price but change quantity. As we come to restaurant often, this was a surprise. I would recommend to ask waiters about if there are different size to a dish and see if it is sufficient for for a family meal. The only good thing is the chicken still taste the same.

Ordered the set meal ($128) for 4 pax. It came with your choice of double boiled soup, Samsui ginger chicken, choice of fried rice, tofu in pumpkin sauce, some spicy veg and tofu prawn. There is also dessert and longevity buns. There are some dishes which I have enjoyed such as the Samsui ginger chicken and prawns. The longevity buns were soft and tasted great as well. However I felt that overall, the food was rather mediocre, and my table could not finish the food. Probably does not warrant a re-visit again. Service is praiseworthy however.

Been awhile since we had this old school restaurant famed for their Samsui chicken - decided to give it another go since we felt the dip in standards a couple of years back. 🍗 the samsui chicken itself is a 1 ⭐️.. the lack in intensity of the garlic itself was enough to demote the entire dish, given that it used to be the highlight.. 🥦 beancurd was okay, quite fried on the outside but it’s all torn apart once you break it open, pretty hard to eat it with a soup spoon.. Enough flavour though, so 3 ⭐️ by itself 🍚 the ah gong fried rice was as good as it used to be, garlicky and generous portions of sliced chicken - 5 🌟 🍚 earthen bowl was okay, minced meat was nothing to shout about - but good as a main dish to accompany other selection, 4 ⭐️ All in all, the ala carte dishes were quite a let down. Will return for their rice and noodles though.

We came by to have a quick dinner before a movie. The service was great - we pointed out the ginger fried rice was a bit bland, and they replaced it even though we didn't want it to be replaced. And the service staff followed through very politely and made sure we were satisfied with the second plate. The food quality hasn't dropped but it appears the quantity has. But given the difficult times for f&b I hope they get back the same business levels.

For someone who is not into typical Chinese cuisine... The wife and I left this restaurant at Vivocity very, Very, VERY satisfied. We had samsui chicken, lotus root soup and fried rice. Server Catherine and her manager Pei Yee were extremely polite, courteous and friendly and made us feel very welcome (Indians in a Chinese restaurant 😂😜). Overall Great Dining in experience. A must try for anyone looking for great Chinese food.
