Akane Japanese Restaurant

A friend brought a group of us here for lunch and it was a mostly enjoyable experience. The dishes were well presented and not overly expensive, and there are lots of options at lunch. Most of us went with the udon and tempura set, while my wife had the beef with sushi set. Both were elegantly presented, with fresh ingredients. The prawn tempura was especially tasty, as the crispy coating was light and not oily. Service was a little hit and miss, though, with staff dropping utensils and bowls on three occasions. Also, my wife asked the staff if the dishes had any soba or buckwheat as she is allergic, and the staff said there was none. However, one of the appetizers had buckwheat rice, which we thought was barley (we confirmed this with one of the senior staff) - fortunately, my wife had only taken a couple of bites and on,y experienced some tingling in her lips and some small reaction.
