Kuro Izakaya

Really delicious Japanese cuisine. Wonderful staff and ambience. The Salmon and Avocado Salad is a must try, the salmon is super fatty and fresh. I would suggest going for the Mentaiko Don as a main dish instead of yakitori which the restaurant apparently specialise in. The yakitoris are pricey given the small portions. But if you really do want to try, go for the sets. Not to say that it doesn't taste great, it just isn't worth it in my opinion. Overall, would highly recommend this restaurant.

Staff were friendly and helpful but the food we've had was really quite average. We had the Salmon Aburi Mentaiko Don and the Grilled Black Pepper Beef Don from the staple menu. Would have preferred if the rice had some Japanese seaweed and sesame mixed into it. The portion of salmon and beef was also rather small in our opinion.

There’s a lot options for Japanese food around Suntec City, especially with japan food street nearby, so to stand out is not going to easy. Unfortunately for our trip nothing about the food or venue really made a memorable impression. To be fair the food was ok, the pork teriyaki was probably the best as it was a little crispy and had a good flavour. The beef udon was a little forgettable neither the broth was tasty or the beef steak particularly juicy. The fried fish skin was a little overdone and dry and the excess sauce it was covered in didn’t do much to make up for it. All in all, I feel there are better japanese options around suntec, but if you’re looking for a quick bite and aren’t fussy, this should do just fine.
