Sam Yat Coffee

Rainy day and had a quick stopover for breakfast to my surprise it's actually pretty good! The chicken cutlet was crispy and tender, coconut rice was also fragrant. Curry veg was too coconutty for my liking but that's a personal preference. Kopi was good and if there's more time will try their chendol the next round.

Didn't have super good impression of it the first time I tried their grilled chicken leg as it was quite dry and my fav part, the skin, was kinda missing for most part of it when I ordered for delivery. This time round I went to tabao, their chicken cutlet set with added chicken wing ($1.50! For something that's I thought was quite small a wing 😅), laksa and cendol. Both the chicken cutlet and wing are actually quite good. Cripsy skin, and tender moist meat within. Rice wise, a bit disappointed. Need to have a stronger pandan and coconut flavour. Pity, as the rice is why we chose to eat Nasi Lemak over Cai peng right? Chill is good as usual. Laksa, hmm, not sure if it is because I tabao it, it's a bit sour? We only finished half of it and decided it's not worth the calories to continue. But the ingredients are good, fresh prawns, huge taupok. Only pity, the gravy... :( Otak, mediocre, not worth. Cendol is good, coconut milk is fragrant and rich. But portion is really very small. Like it that they packed the gula melaka separately and allowed us to customize how sweet we want it to be. Don't mind going back, but to try other stuff.

Been seeing this food shop for a while and the modern font of the signage makes it interesting to try. So finally did today. The good presentation is a bit underwhelming because it's like those hawker stalls where the food is pre-cooked and you choose and mix and match. The good side is that you can mix and match the traditional nasi lemak with different kinds of meat viand. The downside is that the food is not hot and not fresh. Overall taste of nasi lemak is surprisingly good. I had the chicken satay and my friend got the usual chicken cutlet. Serving size is also adequate. I've read about the chendol reviews and tried it, it did not disappoint. I wish it has a lot more inside but texture and tastes was good so I can come back for that.
