Le Xuan Hong Kong Dim Sum

Le Xuan used be a Dim Sum stall in a coffeeshop and moved to their current location and upgraded to a Zi Char and Dim Sum restaurant. Their Dim Sum is still good and taste the same when we first ate more than 10 years ago. Sadly, our favourite steam carrot cake is not longer on their menu. Their White Bee Hoon is as good, if not better, than that famous restaurant. We randomly ordered the Curry Pork Rice and it was a surprised find - one of the best we have had. Overall, reasonable price and good quality food.

Someone recommended that we try here so we came for brunch on a weekday. Even at 11 am, it was quite crowded. They have an extensive menu ranging from dim Sum to rice with various meats, as well as noodles. We ordered the white bee hoon, siew mai, char siu pau, baked char siu pau, fried wontons and harkows. The food was generally freshly steamed or fried, and you can help yourself to the various chillies available - we especially liked the smokiness of the chilli oil. The white bee hoon was quite bland, even with the cut green chilli. The siew mai was pretty good, as was the wonton. The char siu pau was the least popular dish as the meat had an odd aftertaste. The baked ones were much better. Service was pretty fast and the food was not too expensive, at @$35. Something similar at, say, Tim Ho Wan would have been double the price. Location is pretty good in laidback, sleepy and slightly rustic Changi Village.

This place has wide menu of Chinese dim sum and dong bei grill dishes as well as zi char dishes for every taste buds. In the morning, they make their own dim sums, so those people who found their dim sum sub standard must have patronise them in the night. There is an OFF MENU DISH that makes me come back all the time, YUAN YANG FRIED HOR FUN WITH MEE FIEN. we happened to be here late one night and the chef was out taking orders ( all staff here multi tasks). Not knowing what to order from menu, he suggested he will make this off menu dish for us. It is a layer of deep fried crispy bee hoon with a layer of hor fun with sea food sauce. Oh mine, it was heavenly!! crispiness texture bee hoon gives a new dimension to the chewy texture of hor fun. Try to request for that and hopefully they can put it on the menu soon. Service wise, they are short handed but the only PRC waitress is quick handed and alert. Love the village feel of changi, will be back.

We didn’t eat the dim sum here but the food exceeded our expectations! Had the white bee hoon and the 老黄瓜 soup and both were delicious. The white bee hoon broth was thick enough and well flavored with juicy fresh prawns. The soup was nourishing and was good with the rainy weather. Pretty good quality considering they serve such a wide variety of dishes as well.
