If it's just the donmaru set, I'll probably not spend the effort to review the place. The uni didn't taste fresh but the rice was good though. What seriously blew us away was the unagi don. I would even say that it could be better than a recent place - where we had to queue for an hour to get in. Will definitely be back for the unagi again. Wish the place could be a little bigger though.

I almost never give less than 3 stars to places I eat. We ordered 2 Bonta Special that was SGD16.80++. Normally it comes with Tuna slices and minced Tuna but we requested to change them to Salmon meat instead. It came with Uni too. Hungry and excited, I took a slice of salmon, threw it into my mouth, but immediately took it out cause I felt a bone. Brought it up to the staff but not sure if the chef was even informed of that. She offered to change that piece but I told her it was fine cause I can simply take it out and continue, just wanted the chef to know. A simple apology from the chef would have done it but anyway, I let it go, was too hungry. Come the uni, which I was looking forward to because I miss (not missed) those I had in Japan. There were 2. I tried one, and forced myself to swallow it. It wasn't fresh and had a stale taste to it. Texture was similar to fishball, which isn't supposed to be. I'm one who never waste food but I had to do it to makes a point. I took the other piece out and placed that expensive ingredient onto the tray, and informed the other staff about both incidents. Again, poor service recovery and decided to just eat whatever was left there and leave. To be fair the RICE was really good. One of the better ones in SG. So there you go, 2 stars. Skip those with uni. The rest should be fine. Hope your experience is better than mine.

I had their donmaru set which was really nothing to shout about. It's a decent donburi at affordable price . The set comes with a refillable dashi soup and rice. The tuna that was used were pretty normal and the uni was pretty meh. However , the star of the show was the rice. It is amazingly nice, I read that it is specially curated from Japan using the finest Kinmemai rice. A good trick to have is to get the refillable dashi soup and mix with the extra rice that comes with the set.
